with t-new and henry playing so well, why dont we blitz more often? are we playing conservative on d as well? we just need more pressure on the qb!

Henry has not been playing as of late, he saw some late action yesterday.

It's been a bit disappointing to see that the D Line has seemingly slipped a bit and has not applied much pressure.

I think the gameplan yesterday was ultra conservative...why blitz and take the chance of allowing an easy TD? They don't have the talent to drive the length of the field very often...so make them work for their TD's

The gameplan worked well.

I suspect we'll see a different gameplan for the Broncos.

I think we do blitz and Im guessing here but I bet we blitz atleast 30% of the time on passing downs.

It always seems like a safety or a backer is coming.

I think we will see a different gameplan against the Broncos as well BUT I also think that our DL have fell off a bit in the past 2 games (@ Philly, vs Detroit). No inside pressure on the QB, very little all around pressure :( Even though we held the Lions running game (K. Jones) to 54 yards, I still didn't like our Run D in this and in the Philly game. We HAVE to improve these things or it will be tough for us to win on Thanksgiving evening.

Yesterday against a WCO it was hard to bring a blitz because Harrington was getting rid of the ball on quick outs and slants which is why Dallas started backing off the blitz and have the backers drop back into the underneath coverage

This is what I explained to my wife when she said we need to get more pressure on Harrington, and he was getting too much time.

It seems like our pass rush has gotten vanilla again. Rush the 3 linemen + Ware from whichever side he's lined up on.

Let's mix it up some!

We will have to stop the run and put pressure on Plummer to win this game. If we stop the run and make Denver pass, then we MIGHT not blitz as often, especially if the Broncos are losing to us - they'll be passing more often. Because Denver is a better team than Philly and Detroit and have more of a complete team offensivly, the Cowboys will need to rush Plummer and force him to make mistakes.

Don't worry about the blitz, when we do, we risk exposing ourselves.

We held the Lions to 7 points without blitzing.

That's pretty sweet if you ask me. :)

Aginst a WCO not blitzing much was the right thing to do, most of Harrington's passes were quick outs and slants.

my thoughts exactly!! If we can hold their offense, which isnt bad to 7 points w/o blitzing I say DONT BLITZ. Denver will be a lot different. We'll have to do some stunts and blitzes to stop their running game, I hope our guys our on the ball as far as execution, because it will take a lot to get their run stops!

I think we need to pressure Plummer because that's when he makes mistakes.

( Now I sound like the Bledsoe bashers )

YOu dont blitz against a WCO, the reason Ware was ineffective, they have quick 3 5 step drops, and when you have a small corner like Glenn, alot of the WR were getting free release and easy completions,

expect a more agressive D against a team that really doesnt have any scary WR. Good, scary no.

We blitzed the Eagles and they run a WCO??? That first game we blitzed them into submission and it worked quite well.

Yea, and then without the threat of a running game(at least we thought that), we really didnt blitz, and i dont mean blitz a single donw, you just dont bltiz every down.

They run a version of the WCO but they tend to take a lot more shots with the deeper pass. Det it was easy to see that they intended to run the quicker routs and get the ball out faster expecting the Dallas blitz.

We've been fortunate to win some games with Henry out - he should be able to rotate in quite a bit more vs. the Broncos, and we'll need him on the field. i would expect to see more outside blitzes on thanksgiving, hoping to keep plummer contained and turning plays into the middle. did anyone see RW blitz up the middle and knock the defender (RB?) right on his arse? that was sweet - he didn't get to the QB but definitely i would call that a pressure...
