Thanks for the advice, and it is warranted.

I've had a Series 7 License for +15 years and I've taken the GSRRE back in 96. I kinda have a pretty good grasp on what I'm doing. ;)

I thought about getting my series 7, but never actually went and got it. Most of the guys I work with (brokers and ex-traders) have series 7 and or series 3.

The brokers all tell me I have the personality of a trader. (a real awesome person) :laugh2:

Today, the only trading I do is my personal portfolio.

Netflix needs to seriously get with it when it come to content to stream...it ridiculous actually.

And they need to fix that 1 month wait for new releases.

Come on.

That's all I do really. I have a CFP I've used for nearly 20 years, but I keep a separate cash account w/ somewhere between 15-20K available in it.

I day trade roughly 3-4 hours a day, generally 3 days a week.

After short term cap gain taxes, I've averaged 3-5% better return-on-investments than my financial planner does.

Netflix has a lot of content (good content) available for streaming. They also lack a lot content. I am sure it is partly by design though. For example, I decided to watch Dexter. I search for it and sure enough, I see season 1 available for streaming. I watch it, finish it, and move on to season 2. Luckily for me, I see that season 2 is available for streaming. I finish it and am excited for season 3. I search for it, and low and behold, seasons 3-5 are on disk only. I am sure they want me to up my plan to include more disks.

It can be frustrating at times.

I just wait until GoHastings has a free shipping / 30% off sale, and get the movies/DVDs/Blu-ray used.

Amazon sometimes has great deals (buy the $.99 On Demand, and get $4-5 off the DVD/Blu-ray Tv Show, or movie).

That 1 month wait thing is only for movies from WB studios, and it will soon go away as well.

It's actually WB and Fox and Universal. I also just read that since Dec 15th, Blockbuster in a cost cutting move for itself also signed this same contract NetFlix did, so both BB and NetFlix and RedBox have 28 new release waiting periods.

This move allows the frustrated rental customer to get so upset they drive to the store and start purchasing those high priced Blue-Rays and DVD's again.

The studios cut the prices Netflix, BB and RedBox were having to pay for its titles. It's a win win for everyone involved.......except you and I.

Funny huh?

Laughing yet? No? ;)

Yeah I quickly glanced at that press release and misread it...

Hollywood has lost it's damn mind. Everyone's already waited months afer the theater release to watch at home. What's another 28 days? It's certainly not going to make me go buy the crap movies they're putting out.

Oh, I ended up using alternative means to download and watch seasons 3-5. Season 3 seemed like such a disappointment compared to seasons 4 and 5. If I had to rank the seasons, it would go like this: 4, 5, 1, 2, 3 (worst). John Lithgow plays an awesome villain, btw.

Can't wait for season 6.

I'm not saying Blockbuster is going away, I'm saying their brick and mortar stores are. Everything is going digital. In the future everything will be streamed.

Someone hit you with an ignorant stick. Those buildings are not made of bricks and mortar.

I guess it never occurred to me that getting new releases as soon as possible was that important to people. I grew up watching old movies, so what is just coming out has never been that big a deal to me. The thing I love about Netflix is that the catalogue of streaming content is huge. So, I use it to watch all kinds of old and obscure stuff as well as newer shows.

But all in all, I guess if all you really want is to see the big name brand new movies as soon as they're released you'd probably be better off using redbox or something like that.

I go with Blockbuster because of the in-store exchange mostly, but now that they've added games as well it's an added bonus. The streaming for Netflix doesn't offer much for me. The selection is rather poor, and even worse when looking for HD material. Most of what I would put in my queue is not available, and if anything ever is, very rarely would it be in HD.

And then there's the quality of the streaming. Even the HD titles look poor, like heavily compressed DVDs. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the size of my TV, but they're going to have to do a lot better.

I won't argue with the quality of the streamed content on netflix, because it's generally poor, especially if you're used to lovely HD all the time, but you saying the selection is poor translates to saying you have very specific tastes, because the selection of streaming material is massive on netflix. Outside of pirating, you're not going to find close to as much as they offer.

Redbox is just like netflix ...a thirty day wait for most new releases..also the "Brick and Morter" stores will not vanish completely;)
