Is there anyway I can block a website to prevent myself from getting onto it?

I just got dumped a week or so ago after almost 3 years in a relationship and im really struggling, and I make it worse on myself by going onto Twitter and seeing the guys she's talking to and everything. I clearly don't have the willpower to prevent myself from doing it.

I know I must seem like a pansy and everything by saying this but I can't help it. Trying to keep my mind and body busy and off the thought of her so I can get over this. I'm sure some of you have been in the same boat at least once in your life.

Anyway I tried looking through security settings and everything but I can't seem to find where I can block that particular site from being able to be accessed. Any help would be appreciated.

Open the file C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with a text editor. (notepad works)

Add the following lines

192.168.168.1 www.twitter.com
192.168.168.1 twitter.com

Save the file and close it.

Close your browser and reopen it. Twitter should stop working. ;)

I feel bad for you man. But, if you can block the website youself, can't you easily unblock it as well?

Edit: Working out helped me a lot during those kinds of periods in my life, especially jogging or running.

Ok you lost me. Once I get to "etc" and click on that one, no "host" appears. So its not letting me open the file...

I feel bad for you, man.

It'll take some time (it's only been a week or so ... it will get better). In the meantime ... ROAD TRIP!.

If you can, try to go somewhere. Go visit a grandparent, or an old friend ... preferrably someone who has no internet access or computer. Just chill for a few days. Go to the mountains and camp, or to a lake or beach.

This too shall pass.

Unfortunately I have a tedious meaningless job at Staples for the summer while im home from college that prevents me from being able to jump up and go somewhere. I wish.

I am going to try and go to a Rangers game this weekend with a friend though. Its just funny how meaningless some promises can turn out to be.

Nods, the best way is to do something else and get your mind off of it. Get out of the house.

My wife will get worked up about things she has no control over. Instead of just letting it go and find something else to do, she dwells on it for long periods of time making herself (and me) crazy.

If I can't change something, I just say @#$^ it and move on. Sure it can be hard, but it's even harder if you dwell on it.

A promise is nothing but words. If it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be. Quit being a whinny ***** and go find something to do!

Does she have a sister?

If so that always helped with me. :)

Nothing pisses then off more than when you start dating the sister. :D

Just go to Start>Search> search for host in all files. Open the file with Notepad.

Hang in there.

You're young and 3 years seems like a long time to have invested in a relationship, but look at it this way .... you didn't sink 20 years into being married to the wrong person. You found out early enough that she's not the one.

There's somebody out there a lot better. Trust me.

I ran into an ex girlfriend in town the other day, I put the car in reverse and ran into her again.

Bada Bing, try the veal.

Nice Guy Eddie: C'mon, throw in a buck!
Mr. Pink: Uh-uh, I don't tip.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't tip?
Mr. Pink: Nah, I don't believe in it.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't believe in tipping?
Mr. Blue: You know what these chicks make? They make crap.
Mr. Pink: Don't give me that. She don't make enough money then she can quit.
Nice Guy Eddie: I don't even know a Jew who'd have the balls to say that. Let me get this straight: you don't ever tip?
Mr. Pink: I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.

I tip large. I used to wait tables growing up.

If the service is good it's always 20-22%

I can't stand eating dinner w/ my father when he's paying. He never tips properly. It drives me INSANE.

I always end up bumping his tip w/ more of my bills from my wallet, which in turn also drives him crazy.

Crazy circle huh? :)

I'm not on twitter, so I'm not real sure.... But can you just defriend her or unsubscribe to her updates?

My theory after a breakup is to delete everything out of phone, email, internet, social networking, etc. There should be no temptation to contact her... drunk dials are the devil.

As someone mentioned earlier, will he have the willpower to stay away?

I agree, even if you were friends, cut off all contact or potential contacts. Avoid places you think she might be (unless it is class or something).

I know a heartbreak can be pretty painful, but the less reminders of her, the faster you can mend.
