The Cowboys are the NFL’s laughing stock for the second time in three years. (2008 was another “Super Bowl or bust season, in which Dallas missed the playoffs altogether) Sitting at 1-7 and going into week ten, Dallas had the second-worst record in the league behind only Buffalo. The knock on Dallas was simple — they were an undisciplined team with little attention to detail, who made mistakes and could not play a complete 60-minute ball game. Many questions arose in Dallas, but talent was rarely one of them.


Garrett has initiated a change of attitude and culture in Dallas. Attention to detail and the approach to practice has been altered so far under Garrett. With talent not being a burden, (Dallas arguably has three top-five players at their position in Demarcus Ware, Jay Ratliff, and Jason Witten. Garrett must both motivate prepare a mistake-ridden club that has little to play for in 2010. Oh yeah, besides their jobs. Players on Dallas knew that Phillips would be fired before they would, and their performance on the field did little to say they wanted anything but Phillips out of Dallas.

Good article thats dead on. I would actually like to fast forward this season and get to the draft. I really want too see how the Boys start out the 2011 season.

I think the lack of comments isn't due to a lack of interest in the subject matter, but is probably due to the fact that most don't want to start makin judgements about Garrett as the HC over the long term until they see more. I think that's where most fans are, in a wait and see mode. That's probably actually an improvement for Garrett. I think some fans probably upgraded from thinking NO WAY to Garrett, to now thinking they will give him some time to prove himself.

Well we will get a chance.

Mid round pick at the very worst.

We need immediate help at guard, tackle, safety, and middle linebacker.

If we have a high enough pick (top ten) I would like to trade down maybe 5-8 spots and pick up a few extra picks to fill our holes.

It's not the number of picks we have it's how you use them. 2009 we had what 12 picks and look at that draft.

Maybe a new coaching staff can get the "talent" out of our current players. But the past few drafts have left a lot to be desired, in regards to impact players.

No he is not the Cowboys answers..I don't think it was any sort of accident that garretts play calling sucked when Wade was head coach, in time he is going to revert back to the garrett of old. failing to run the ball..Forcing Romo when and if he does comeback this year. in to situations where he is gonna have to step back and pass, when they fail, leaving Tony vulnerable to another injury which could be worse than the one he has now

Totally disagree. Bad pass protection caused Romo's injury, not playcalling. You think who ever the next HC won't call a pass play, forcing Romo to "step back and pass"? It doesn't matter what play you call or whose calling it, if your Oline, and rbs cannot pass or run block.

Sure it's how you use them, but that doesn't change the fact that the more picks you have the better the odds of finding some quality players.

You have a better chance to draft "impact players", if you have a impact pick, for ex. a 1st rounder, 2nd rounder, which, since Jerry traded away his 1st rounder in 09, lessoned his chances in 09 of drafting a impact player. Certainly found a impact player in this past draft.

They also found an impact player in the 7th round (Ratliff), and impact player in the 3rd round (Witten), and a couple of impact players that weren't drafted at all (Romo, Austin). Having a higher pick may increase your odds of getting an impact player in that particular round, but having more picks can also pay big dividends because it can help you find gems throughout the draft.

+1, I always love it when Jerry and co. acquire as many picks as possible. Love how New England's Belichick always trades for and/or accumalates extra picks.
