Felix is a great kickoff returner, and I would be cautious with using him. I would use him in the division games and tougher NFC games and the playoffs or if I really needed field position if my team was in trouble.
Injuries have forced Phillips' hand.
I've seen Felix return those kickoffs, too, but I have also seen him take an orange T right in the thigh that knocked him out for the entire game on the opening kickoff. (deep thigh bruise)
I hope all the fans screaming for Felix to return kicks understand that the risk for serious injury goes up when you do this job. This isn't college. It can be dangerous in the NFL. Also, they need to understand the potential of this player on offense. Do you really want to risk ruining him?
Ask Tyson Thompson about it. He wasn't even in bounds when he broke his leg on a late hit out of bounds.
Watching Scandrick and Jenkins do it makes me very nervous as well.
In my opinion, Dallas needs a kickoff specialist, and Felix needs to be used for special situations on kickoff returns if you use him at all.
