Dude, this is absolutely not true. We always wore white against Allen's teams. Find me a picture that proves otherwise.

You are right on target bbgun. It was Gibbs who started the blue jerseys in DC. Of course, his Commanders wore white at home for other games as well. White became their default home color when Gibbs came aboard.

I think the "jinx" comes from, as N_Y_C said, more the high-profile nature of the losses than the numbers of losses. When fans hardly ever see the team in blue, and then they lose Super Bowls and NFC Championships in them, it sure seems like they're bad luck. :(

But those old "jinxed" blue jerseys are still my favorite. A few of us out there actually like the royal blue more than the navy. Just look at the end zones at Texas Stadium. :)

Staubach in any color jersey brings back great memories and I too prefer those blue jerseys to the ones of today.

I don't believe in "jinx," but I do associate the blue jerseys with bad events. Out of reflex, I wince each and every time I hear that the Cowboys are going to wear blue.

And I gotta say that I am getting sick of those "throw back" jerseys. (I guess that would make them the "throw up" jerseys). The throw backs are being worn so frequently these days that they have lost their novelty.

I'd be open to a new road jersey - a dark silver (the Patriots have those, don't they?). And they'd make Jerry happy - he could sell a bunch of them. And it would take a while before I'd start wincing when seeing them.

I prefer this version, although that damn anniversary patch will always remind me of the loss to Frisco.

What Lab and Zero said. Royal Blue all the way. I don't think navy blue was an official team color prior to those 1981 jerseys, and I hate the navy to this day. And I don't remember us wearing the blue at RFK in the 70's. I know the '72 NFCC in Wash we were wearing white.

What I do remember is the Pokes having to wear blue in St. Louis every year, and Philly a few times (see pic).

I used to love those old blue jerseys. I wonder if there will ever be a throwback version?

This version was good too, despite the terrible loss in Philly:

Yeah, really. That's the throwback I wanna see.

BTW, we did win at least one playoff game in those old royal blues. 1978 NFCC in the old Coliseum in LA (next to the museum of natural history, and now itself an NFL dinosaur). In what was maybe the best performance in a road playoff game in the history of the franchise, we beat the Rams 28-0.

That really was an amazing game.

One of the greatest gameplans Landry ever devised ....

Okay,to break it down playoff wise. The cowboys are 30-15 all-time,in the playoffs wearing their whites,17-7 at home, and 13-8 on the road. They have a 1-1 record wearing those 1994 throwbacks,1-0 at home, and 0-1 on the road, the 49er loss. They are 1-3 in the old royal blue uniforms, their only win in the 1978 NFC championship game over the rams. They are 0-3 in the navy blue uniforms.

How many games have they lost in the white jerseys?

Emmitt had his best day in blue!

The huge comback in Washington with Rocket and Irvin together was in blue!

The win over Carolina last year was in blue also.

I say this every now and then, the blue jerseys are not jinxed.

All teams win better at home than on the road. Therefore we see a lot of wins in the white jerseys because Tex Schramm felt fans would like to see the other teams in their "colors" jerseys.

If Schramm had the opposite opinion people would think the white jerseys are jinxed.

There is no jinx.

Excellent post.

After last night, I'm beginning to worry about a white jersey jinx.
