I loved Blue as a player. But I always said he'd probably take a year or two to develop.

Players taken in the fifth rarely develop. Only 5% of them ever become anything but roster fillers

I agree, which is why I'm not happy with Schotty's ignorant decision to purposefully bench Blue for most of last season. That hurt our offense.

The fact that we are a Javontae ankle sprain away from Jaydon Blue being our starting running back should give everyone pause.

Sorry. I left out “RB”.

Earlier comment I made specified running backs

They have a 5% hit rate round 5 or later, in the league.

I listed Aaron jones because I only went back to 2000. Another look found Michael Turner who was seevicable.

Went back and found Terrell Davis but that was all the way in1995! I imagine there may have been some from the 80s and before too.

Bottom line is that it is *very* rare. Not just “with a bit of luck and gumption a kid can do it.” The league has just figured it out.

The thing is if you use the 5 % rule on RB’s making it round 5 or later then as an NFL GM in the draft room I’m not drafting that position then when it comes to round 5 or later . Think about it 5% means your late round RB is going to fail , might as well wait see who’s an UDFA at that point , draft other positions 5-7 .
