This run brought back my PTSD from the Packers and Vikings games where teams were gashing us repeatedly between the RDE and DT. We can claim scheme is the problem and it partly is. But on nearly every one of those big runs we had Covington getting blown up by a single G or C. And on this run Covington is again blown off the line opening a massive hole for the RB. Armstrong takes the outside rush and is easily taken out if the play. At the 3:30 mark.

I am so sick of us mass substituting on the line. I don't think Armstrong, Covington and Hyder are terrible backups, but they are backups and never should all be in there together at the same time.

You can go to 3:30 to see the play in case it doesn't start at the correct spot.

If only we had the Golden cock to plug these running lanes. To think he was Jeff Heath 1.0!

some must admit Tcrawford made a difference regardless of his contract..hes been missed..seems like Collins/woods are doing well when in but teams seem to recognize when they arent and run right in that gap..but really missed tackles and arm tackling are an issue for the young wilson/Thompson whi played a lot and maybe heath was better as well..

admit it its tough I know but we miss those layers who are known targets around here..lol

Crawford is by far the most disrespected player on this site.

I cringe anytime I see Covington in the game.

DT and S are once again holding this team back.

Also the DL scheme tends to leave a lot of natural holes. Between the Wide 9 they use a lot with Quinn or the formation where they have huge gape between the DE and the DT usually on the RDE side because they shift a DT over the C, DT over RG, then LDE outside gape of RT and the RDE is over the LT or to his outside shoulder, this allows the uncover LG to get up to the LB level and cut off pursuit.

It's interesting because I can't recall ever seeing us struggle like this against the run under Marinelli's scheme. Unless we made some type of change this season. And teams aren't even touching the opposite DE allowing them to have up to 2 OL get to the linebackers untouched as you mentioned.

Idk why it’s so hard for this team to see they need a fatass strong guy in the middle.

And the sad thing is, decent 1-Techs aren’t terribly hard to find. They’re easier to find than this unicorn-like 285lb 3-Tech that’s good at rushing the QB and stopping the run that Rod is always desiring.

If Rod doesn’t want a fatass 1-Tech, he needs an elite player like Aaron Donald for his scheme to work, and we do not have that. Hardly any team does.

This coming year in the draft / FA assuming we resign our more important players like Cooper/Dak etc. We need to upgrade safety/DT in the draft as the top priority. I would then grab a CB after that due to our current players on rookie contracts coming up.

I do agree I mean the only time we get a pass rush is when Lawrence, Bennett, and Quinn are on the field, might as well get a fat *** that just clogs up the line the 4th DL is never close on passing downs.

That play was all about a good play call against the defensive alignment. We were playing Hyder at the 3 to give Collins a blow and the 270 lber got blow off the ball.

He was largely a non-factor after DLaw planted him in the backfield for a 6 yard loss. Runs way too upright to be consistently effective in this league.

Here is a screenshot the moment Bo hits the line.

This is exactly what the Vikings and the Packers (and the Rams) did to us repeatedly. They have to clean this up.

Does it look like Jaylon hasn't even noticed that the ball was snapped?

All three of Aaron Jones' TD runs were on exact plays like this so I wish this was just a lucky play call. Didn't notice that Hyder was at the 3 so thanks for pointing that out.
