Bob Grotz of Delco Time: Eagles look tired and the bottom to fall out

It is hard to get up for a game when you know in your heart of hearts that your opposition is better then you are. After the emotions of the opening kick off subsides and reality sets in, it can be crushing. The Boyz just got to provide the proverbial feather.

I think Dallas needs to reinforce that doubt by jumping on them early. Philly is a high scoring team yet in 2 meetings they have 1 TD I think if we continue to take away McNabb deep ball and put some early hits on him Philly very well could wilt in this game. No doubt I expect Philly to come in very emotional early on Dallas needs to knock that emotion out of them quickly

I disagree.

I don't think the Eagles feel the Cowboys are better, just like if the Cowboys were playing the Giants, the Cowboys wouldn't think that the Giants are a better team, despite losing to the Giants twice.

I believe the Eagles are mentally and physically weary because their 6 game winning streak was snapped, they lost the #2 Seed, a 1st Round Bye and a chance to play at least 1 game at home.

If the Cowboys had lost a game like that with such much riding on it, I would be worried about where the team was mentally.

Thus the beauty of football. There are times that an inferior team can rise to the occasion and pull an upset but more times then not, the better team usually prevails. IMO, Dallas is the superior team in not just one facet of the game but all three phases. Once we get the lead, it will be over. It will break the iggles will and take Eddie Hercules crappy officiating out of the game.

It is extremely hard to play back to back games on the road. Against a winning team it is even harder. In a playoff atmosphere it is even harder.

They are near falling apart. We are coming together. We need to protect the football and just take care of business. Nothing cute is needed. Just execute.

Bingo.

They are publicly saying that but they know. When they watch the film and develop their game plan it is obvious. You can fool some people some of the time but you cannot fool all the people all of the time and you really cannot fool yourself.

The very nature of football demands that you show courage even when you are scared to death. The iggles in all of their talk are just whistling by the graveyard, when the ghost jumps out, they will flee.:eekmouse:

iggles = false bravado and Saturday's game will show that.

I'm not as confident.

I believe the Cowboys are a better team overall, but the gap between the two teams isn't so great that the Eagles cannot win this game.

I believe this game is going to be a battle.

EXACTLY!!! Keep doing what we've been doing.

Wasn't that the one where we got it and ran it in for a touch?

That was the second time they tried it on us. In 2000 they opened the game, which was the season opener as well, with an Onside kick, recovered it, and went on kick the living crap out of us that day.

It could be but I am betting no. If it is a battle I think it will be because of something weird and wacky happened.

During the regular season I thought that it was hard to distinguish between the Cowboys/Gents/Iggles. Now upon further review, especially after the NFC East championship game, we clearly are the better team. We were able to raise our play and although philthy tried, they could not match our intensity. They had more at stake and they could not rise to the occasion, couple that to losing to the likes of the Raiders and being extremely pass happy, they are ready to be decimated.

It could change but last week I saw a team of players, ready to lay it down. We give them the incentive, it can get ugly, quick, fast, and a hurry.

Oh and as for the original topic in here I don't believe, for one moment, that the Eagles are falling apart and aren't going to come out in this game playing extremely hard and doing everything they can to ruin us.

They're going to give it everything and Dallas needs to give even more than that.

This guy was dead serious.

He told the host of the radio show that the Eagles flat out look done.

well if thats true then they might be in big trouble.

one thing no one has talked about this week yet is how warm it was inside the stadium.,

with that place all closed up it is very warm in there, you could see those guys on defense in the 2nd quarter bent over and tired during the tv breaks.

so to me if they are already lethargic, the keys to the game might be time of poession and field position.

I think they are going to play the run really well early in the game, if they dont we may kill them.

but with all games, turnovers change momentum immediately and one big play changes momentum immediately.

I agree, can't read anything into these reports any more than if Calvin Watkins said that Dallas looked tired and like the bottom was really to fall out.

No, the team will come out and will play hard. This week for Philly is what last week was for Dallas...a chance at redemption after being humiliated.

.

I really agree with this part. Anything can happen but if we control the clock like we have done for the majority of the season, curtains.

You are correct sir. Well said.

Honestly I think some of the Eagles absolutely believe the Cowboys are better than them. You could see it on their faces the other day, some of them looked like they knew they couldnt win to me.

This whole "we didnt try"..."we didnt want to show stuff" is just an attempt to convince themselves that they can really play with us. Because they had all the motivations in the world to win that game, and got beat down pretty good.

No game is ever a "lock" and we COULD lose, but I think unless we have several turnovers it will be extremely difficult for Philly to win this game.

My sentiments exactly.

Maybe they played the way they did because they EXPECTED us to fold and play poorly, and when we didnt it stunned the crap out of them.

Seriously, the looks on some of their players faces was priceless.

It was hard to put up a false front when they came in confident and left with a hole in the seat of their pants.

We are better and it will take the improbable to happen for us to lose. This is a nice turn of events.

If we dominate both lines and take care of the rock, we will be a happy bunch come Saturday night!

Philly is nothing to be feared. They haven't beat a single team that is in the playoffs and the only team they beat with a winning record was Atlanta and they didn't have Matt Ryan.

Outside of a miracle we will dominate them.
