I guess this gives clarity to the issue financially but the reality is it ain't happening, forget it........Jerry would sell the team first (LOL) AND the no-trade clause means you need Dak's blessing.

I've been doing mock drafts on PFF, and the first thing I do is trade Dak. The second thing I do is trade Zeke. It is amazing the young teams I can build that way.

Sadly, PFF mocks are not real life. Instead we'll get the Jones boys convincing themselves that they made the right decisions, and running it back all over again.

Remember it was MM that pull the plug on Brett Fravr's career in Green Bay BUT he had a replacement. The point is if you are trading your starting with back-to-back 12-win seasons, you probably wanna have a better replacement in your pocket.

He mentions what it will cost the new team, but fails to point out what it will cost Dallas in dead cap. THAT is why he it’s extraordinarily unlikely he gets traded, even if Dallas wanted to.

Also, by rule you can’t trade him tonight, nor for another 7 weeks

Jerry Jones kept Jason Garrett long after he should have been gone, and when he got rid of him - he really didn't want to it was public pressure that did it and thus the sinking of a storied NFL franchise ensued. What a disaster Garrett was. Jones also signs players that underperform to pay scales about 3 tiers above what they are. Both Prescott and Zeke need to go ASAP.

Dak might have trade value. Zeke has none.

To be fair, teams can negotiate and agree to player trades before free agency starts, but they simply do not submit the paperwork to the NFL until that time.

That said, Dak has a no-trade clause so it is unlikely he would be traded.

As for releasing him, it is not realistic for the Cowboys to release Dak until after the 2023 season as the dead cap hit in 2023 would be huge.

If the Cowboys are smart, the best strategy would be to draft a high round quarterback and/or bring in a veteran quarterback to push Dak and/or compete for the starting job next season.

Thanks Bob.

What a stupid take. They can't trade him this year because of the cap implications to the team, not because another team won't take the contract.

This. And the important thing is to not restructure him. Take the cap hit this coming year so that you can leave the door open to cutting him if he isn't the guy. You restructure him like we have with Zeke and you are locked in for longer.

Who’s your first round pick without the trades?

Daniel Jones and Geno Smith will make more money then Dak in 23 and 24 when they get new contracts. Dak can be traded because he is a good quarterback. Not many of those in the NFL. Wait to you see what the Raiders get for Derek Carr.

I could be wrong but I think both get tagged for 2023.......Giants GM said the playoff loss, he hopes to have Daniel Jones back. Not exactly a ringing endorsement........

I’m the last guy to ever defend Jerry Jones but….. I think falls has a tough situation when it comes to signing players bc other teams throw these huge contracts at our guys that are just decent solid players which causes us to have to overpay for guys

Like Jeremy Parnell. Dak. Randy Gregory. Laurent Robinson. The list goes on and on

It will start off with the tag but that is at least 40 million. Last year at this time would you have imagined paying Geno Smith or Daniel Jones 40 million a year. :omg: I don’t think fans would have been able to imagine if these guys made 40 million in their whole careers let alone one season.

Don't you know you can just call 1-800-HOF-QB4U? It's so easy, anyone can do it to get a replacement QB.

ok, Dak maybe tradable. maybe fetch a 3rd at this point or fool a team to up it to a second based on performance. but zeke is not tradable, or maybe just for a 6th or 7th round pick at best. who would want to take on his salary for his 2.5ypc output.
