He mentions what it will cost the new team, but fails to point out what it will cost Dallas in dead cap. THAT is why he it’s extraordinarily unlikely he gets traded, even if Dallas wanted to.

Also, by rule you can’t trade him tonight, nor for another 7 weeks
Ya, this is the caption obvi I us part that He completely ignored.

If we want to gut the team this year, yup, we sure can trade him.

I guess this gives clarity to the issue financially but the reality is it ain't happening, forget it........Jerry would sell the team first (LOL) AND the no-trade clause means you need Dak's blessing. Good luck....

Of course if you can trade Wince for a ransom you can trade DAK. I didn’t realize Dak was that low. Personally I would look into it because I do believe dAk Will never win the SB. Trade ZEEK I don’t think so

To me, Sturm only completed HALF of the assignment. The BIG QUESTION - what would the Cowboys’ cap hit be in the deal?

I like Sturm but he's being a bit disingenuous here. The cost involved that makes it tough to trade Dak isn't what a team would have to pay in base salaries. It's what the Cowboys would have to take on in dead money.

The only way you could see any cap savings this year would be a post June 1 trade. But how likely is that? Dallas, if trading Dak, would want it done before the draft so they had the picks to use. A pre-June 1 trade means Dallas would have to take an additional $9 million in cap hits resulting in a total dead cap of almost $60 million.

Yes, Dak at like $32 million in base salary for a team acquiring him isn't bad. They can restructure, redo, etc. We get that Bob. But talk to us about what happens to Dallas if they made that trade? That's the real issue.

If you trade Dak, the reality is you have to blow the whole thing up.

Maybe that's what we should be doing. I have no idea.

I would not give up the farm for any QB in the 23 draft. I would go all in on Williams or Maye in 24. Problem is they won't be bad enough to be in position to draft them and the teams that are won't be trading the picks.

I've been doing mock drafts on PFF, and the first thing I do is trade Dak. The second thing I do is trade Zeke. It is amazing the young teams I can build that way.

Sadly, PFF mocks are not real life. Instead we'll get the Jones boys convincing themselves that they made the right decisions, and running it back all over again.
Spill the beans....what teams takes those trade?

Dak has a no trade clause in his contract. Every day we have to say this simple simon reminder here.
Contracts are meant to be broken, and Dallas could easily force Dak into waiving his no trade clause, but Jerry would never allow it.

I think Dak would enjoy being traded, especially to a team with low expectations and a fan base that doesn’t care about winning SB’s. Dak could do his little dance in such a place until he retires.

Jerry doesn't like to admit mistakes. Look at the decade long coach in training. Not a great quality for a "GM" in pro football.

These are the cap consequences for any proposed ‘trade’:

2023 Dead Cap: $58,070,000
2023 Cap Savings: $-8,940,000

The actual work that Sturm failed to do before trying to chastise anyone else.
So, we would paying Dak less in a trade than if he were still on the roster?

ok, Dak maybe tradable. maybe fetch a 3rd at this point or fool a team to up it to a second based on performance. but zeke is not tradable, or maybe just for a 6th or 7th round pick at best. who would want to take on his salary for his 2.5ypc output.
As I reminisce about the "Dak is better than Stafford" days, not all that long ago on this forum, I also remember that the Rams gave up 2 first round picks and their own first overall drafted QB, to get a 10 year veteran QB with a grand total of 3 playoff games and 0 playoff wins.

Hell, the Rams traded 2 first round picks to draft Goff. The Rams haven't had a first round pick in something like 7 or 8 years now.

But yea..... MAYBE we could get a 3rd rounder for Dak. Maybe.

Trade the next 4 first-round picks for Burrow and trade any player that they might want to.

Pack his bags and send him on his way.
If another team is dumb enough to take him, and the Cowboys are too stupid to let him go, that's where two of the dumbest franchises in NFL history meet.
