I guess this gives clarity to the issue financially but the reality is it ain't happening, forget it........Jerry would sell the team first (LOL) AND the no-trade clause means you need Dak's blessing. Good

I've been doing mock drafts on PFF, and the first thing I do is trade Dak. The second thing I do is trade Zeke. It is amazing the young teams I can build that way.

Sadly, PFF mocks are not real life. Instead we'll get the Jones boys convincing themselves that they made the right decisions, and running it back all over again.
I guess my question is this...

WE know what Dak is. .... the very nature of this post is deciding if we could miraculously get rid of this guy.

If ur a fan of ANOTHER team....why do you want Dak? He threw the most INTs this year even with missing a quarter of the season. Name a fanbase out there, and REALLY put urself in that fans shoes, and tell me why you want the QB that threw by far the most INT per game, the most Pick 6s, and who's about to cross the 30yr line,....for SIXTY some million dollars for 2 years.

Why do you want Dak, fan of another team? If you are fan of a BAD team, with a bad roster...say Texans or Carolina...do you want Dak? If you are a fan of the Vikings, do you want Dak?

So...the game is figure it out for yourself, huh? Even if I dont know what I am looking at...and most likely would get the numbers wrong?

No one can or wants to answer the cap hit for Cowboys if another team takes on his salary?

Sturm said the new team is on the hook for his salary and bonuses for remainder of contract...supposedly 65M over two years.

I dont know how much is left of Daks guaranteed money or how long you can spread it out? Does pre or post June 1st do anything to the number?

I dont get why NOT A SINGLE POSTER is willing to give the answer in simple terms:

New Team after trade = 65M over two years unless Dallas supplements the salary

Cowboys after trade = ?

IF he isn't the guy? LOL.
Haha hey I'm just saying if he reverts to rookie form next year then you have a decision to make. I'm not betting on it though. Regardless you have one more year. Don't make it worse with a restructure.

Trade hi m and he can join everybody else that has left Jerry World and go to a Conference Championship game, Super Bowl, and get a Super Bowl ring.

Arlington Jonesboys the only team over the last 27 years that has not gone to a Conference Championship game.

The Dallas Cowboys went to 18 in 29 years (1966-1995).

He was clearly terrible from his first year, so, yeah, I'm with you on this. I'm not really on the Jerry hate train lately. He's been doing a good job the past couple of years. In recent years, he's gotten back my attention when I kinda wasn't as serious of a fan as I once was. I like what he's done since hiring McCarthy, personnel-wise. I'm just not sure McCarthy is involved enough in the game-planning to really make a difference.

The team's philosophy has changed, and that's great. But I give more credit to McClay for that than anyone else.

I’m with you man but Garrett was just so bad that McCarthy is still a breath of fresh air to me because he’s actually an NFL quality coach.

I luv it when just regular fans know more about the NFL rules & regulations more\better than the sports media people...who supposedly should know most ..if not all.
'Aerolithe_Lion'...can you post a link to that nugget?

Trading Dak anytime soon would be a 90m$ cap hit that puts you 40m$ further over the cap than just keeping him.

And they can only discuss trades today, no one can actually get traded until March:

(Scroll down to the ides of March)

In general I do not understand how the Cowboys are so terrible at trading. It’s like Jerry and his ilk are such eternal optimists about players that they drink their own Kool-aid until there’s no value left in a player. I said we should’ve traded Dak right before we resigned him. We all act like that’s insane, but Wentz…Goff… teams aren’t scared to move on from flawed players. In fact they seem to draft those positions intentionally so they appear to be trading from a position of strength. Our idiotic front office either trades from positions of desperation or announces to the whole world that they need to offload someone or release them and they get fleeced or have to release them and get nothing. I just don’t get it.

Remember it was MM that pull the plug on Brett Fravr's career in Green Bay BUT he had a replacement. The point is if you are trading your starting with back-to-back 12-win seasons, you probably wanna have a better replacement in your pocket.
Seeing that it’s lining up to his career depending on it, he may want to start looking for a winning QB. 12 wins and no nfc championship next year means mm is gone. Dak isn’t it and that proven to the masses, he’s all talk and no show. I’d shake it up and bring in Baker, Carr, etc and at least have a backup plan with a good draft pick;).

right like lets go after a high draft pick at qb because they all work out so flawlessly. they actually don't.. Trey Lance 3 first rounder, love, Mayfield, zach wilson, and many others...that the reality or a daniel jones type, wentz , goff etc ?? lance, a top 3 pick benched and now the last player picked in the draft is starting in the nfccg ie Tom Brady a 6th rounder dak a 4th rounder romo undrafted. IDC who you think will be better , odds are we could end up like the jets, broncos, browns, Washington, Carolina, and many other teams who are constantly drafting and fail at qb but then turn around and go pay a guy after trading draft picks to get vet like Dak.lOL Theres no guarantees, no blueprints, and be careful what you wish for.

13 qb were used between Aikman and Romo.. Daks top 10 qb and well going out to find anther to even be Dak or better is not just making one move,.,.luck and timing come into it. be careful what you wish for..
Why the hostility? You should do something else for a minute (not serial killing)

Not only is he untradeable but they are gonna restructure his contract to save 20 million on the cap next year. I made a post the day after we signed DAK that it would be the worst contract in the history of the cowboys and haunt us for the next 6-8 years. I stand by it and now the dak koolaid drinkers are seeing it.

Yep, and that's why they need to take a chance on someone like Jaren Hall, someone they can legitimately draft—someone who at least has a chance to develop into something more than Dak.

Hall has all the tools Dak has, and then some. Great arm, great mobility, and doesn't turn the ball over a whole lot. The knocks on him are he's 25, and somewhat injury-prone. But I'd still say worth the risk, especially if they can land or deal on him in the 2nd. Dude has 1st round measurables....
I have a great idea. Let’s draft the next mahomes. Problem solved.

You were dead wrong. This is the first year daks contract has even been an issue.

zekes contract was the worst ever. Daks will be a bargain soon.

He mentions what it will cost the new team, but fails to point out what it will cost Dallas in dead cap. THAT is why he it’s extraordinarily unlikely he gets traded, even if Dallas wanted to.

Also, by rule you can’t trade him tonight, nor for another 7 weeks
~60 million according to Mike Fisher. That's a lot of damn money for a team that's already cash-strapped. Moreover, you would still have to pay the quarterback you bring in. On the Rodgers trade it would amount to about 110 - 120 million total. An INSANE amount of money. It would be the absolute height of fiscal recklessness...even for Jones. Not happening. So while he might be "theoretically" tradeable...back in the barnyard on planet Earth it just ain't happening.
