According to McCarthy he’s going to get most of the preseason work. Nick Eatman reported prior to camp that Lance wasn’t looking that great and thought that Cooper Rush would remain the backup. This can’t be encouraging for the fans that are touting Lance and would like to see him as our starting QB.

He never beat out Jimmy G because there was never a competition. Kyle Shanahan made the decision to move on from Jimmy G and move forward with Lance. They gave up a lot for him and handed him the job. They tried trading Jimmy G, but when there were no initial takers, they decided to hang onto him.

These guys basically said Dak sucked in practice in 2016 too but was a “game day” player and he played in college much more than Lance. Dak’s in his ninth year and is still throwing picks in camp.

The first week of training camp means nothing for long term judgments, especially from those who said he needs time and reps.
