Is it just me, or does it seem whenever he is on the field he sticks out?

It seemed whenever he was out there i paid close attention to him, and he seemed to make alot of plays.

Especially during the playoff game.

thoughts?

is he going to be a force to be wreckened with next year?

Maybe it's because he's the only white player on D.

I'm just kidding!!!!

Anyway, the way the kid started out the season, I say the production we got from him the last few weeks is bonus. I definitely think he can play and wouldn't mind him in the mddle over James or taking over for Ellis if he doesn't make a full recovery.

I also think we need to get Burnett in the mix somehow.

Seemd to be Carpenter was really starting to show why we drafted him in last few games of the season. Hopefully that will continue but of course he will also be helped by our offseason weight conditioning program which I assume will continue under Phillips. But who knows.

What games were you watching..

Sure he came on later in the season ( ATL and SEA) but he sure did stick out during the season...

If you ever saw him on Kickoff coverage, ( replayed like me over and over again) he was getting blown up, missed tackles, couldnt shed 3 string TE's blocks etc....

I think its a confidence thing. Its hard to go from being a stud on the field(OSU) to a special teams player and still have that confidence. Especially when you are "thinking too much" and not reacting. He needs to be an everydown player from the get go next year to truly be that guy he was at OSU. He was vocal and he stood out. Its kind of hard to be a vocal leader on defense, when your getting abused on kickoff team.

Not sure where that leaves Greg Ellis but still. Greg might want another trade after Bobby takes his spot and my man A.Spencer is coming in on third downs :pray2:

That would be nasty if Dallas does to everyone what the Pats did to the Eagles in the Superbowl. Run a situational 2-5 or 3-5 defense to make use of all there talent at LB.

I think he is one of 3 players who will benefit most from the way Wade Phillips runs a 3-4 versus the way we have the last 2 years. The other 2 are Roy and Ware.

I think Canty, Spears, and Ware will be the direct beneficiaries. With their improvement, the rest will also improve.

DeMarcus Ware...#94.

;)

And I do think Ware will benefit greatly, or simply be exposed.
Its either going to be great or abysmal as far as Ware is concerned.

That secondary is the real issue, and the lack of a true DT/NG for a 3-4.

Cowboys shore up that secondary and Ware may very well become the beastly player that many Cowboys fans hoped for.

I am hoping that doesnt happen of course. ;)

Seriously, I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but why on earth would it be "abysmal" for Ware?

Also, why would shoring up the secondary help Ware?

Oh, and Ferguson is 100% 3-4 NT.

No doubt. Ware actually looked decent playing linebacker in the 4-3 at the Pro-Bowl. It would be a waste if he had to play that position full time, but it just strengthened the point that he is an extraordinary player. He will make everyone around him better. How bad would the defense had been if he wasn't playing this year? Scares me to think about it.

If he wasn't exposed this past season, he won't be next year. He may not reach the greatness of the expectations thrust upon him when he was drafted, but he has been playing well and should continue to do so.

Seriously, if you dont know, than you dont watch enough football.

He will look great or look terrible, where is the confusion ?

I expect WP to make a major impact as he typically does with his defensive personnel.

So I am absolutely doubtful that Ware will look bad or abysmal, but it could happen if players dont buy in.

Thats all I am saying.

Write me down as someone who doesn't watch football then.

Either he'll look great or abysmal? LOL!

I'm actually not that worried about the secondary, and Ferguson did a great job at NT last year. My biggest concern is the pass rush. If Phillips can fix that, this team will be really good.

You dont understand how the secondary and front seven compliment each other ?

I think the entire defense will benefit from te changes coming.

The reins were pulled too tight. We have a lot of players who will play much better turned loose. Expect improvement from these players.

Roy Williams
Bobby Carpenter
DeMarcus Ware
Kevin Burnett
Marcus Spears
Chris Canty
Jason Hatcher

Possibly Bradie James.

I think pressure on the passer will also help the secondary. I only mentioned Roy above because he will be allowed to attack finally.

Translation...this defense can be very good in 2007. Good enough to carry this team. They need confidence and I think they will get some.

The only thing they lack is a no doubt vocal leader. Part of me is wishing very hard for Paul Posluzny at ILB to be that voice.

Sure I understand how the secondary and front seven compliment each other. For the most part, a great front seven can benefit a weak secondary. However, a weak secondary will not generally make a front seven look bad. A good secondary will help the front seven with "coverage sacks" but that is limited. Take for example San Diego last year who had a horrible secondary but a great front 7.

The "either great or abysmal" line was ridiculous, though.

Whereas I think Newman, Williams, or Carpenter should be that leader.

It is still early, but I think Canty is/will be average at best.
