Sure I understand how the secondary and front seven compliment each other. The "either great or abysmal" line was ridiculous, though.

Same way Romo played this season.

Great or Abysmal.

Jones...

Canty...

Williams...

etc.

And trust me when I say that the Commanders certainly didnt play even close to the level that I was expecting this year. They were either great or abysmal.

I think the entire defense will benefit from te changes coming.

The reins were pulled too tight. We have a lot of players who will play much better turned loose. Expect improvement from these players.

Roy Williams
Bobby Carpenter
DeMarcus Ware
Kevin Burnett
Marcus Spears
Chris Canty
Jason Hatcher

Possibly Bradie James.

I think pressure on the passer will also help the secondary. I only mentioned Roy above because he will be allowed to attack finally.

Translation...this defense can be very good in 2007. Good enough to carry this team. They need confidence and I think they will get some.

The only thing they lack is a no doubt vocal leader. Part of me is wishing very hard for Paul Posluzny at ILB to be that voice.

Puz is 2 small. 6 '1 235.. He would be a decent ILB in a 4-3 but would get blown up playing ILB in a 3-4. Even though his instincts are second to none, you cant get by on those alone. Especially in this defense. I bet he runs a low 4.7 anyway. He should have came out last year despite the partial MCL tear.

Sam Mills.

It always surprises me how many people think football is only about size.

Why do you miss them ? They are out there ? when you say you miss them is that because you are color blind and can't tell the difference ?

If you are saying you would rather pick a player based on color than skill, well then you not a football fan but a fan of something else which is not appreciated here.

Can you really be a fan of "Being a moron", though?

Will since you dont care about size, Buster Davis from FSU will be better

I'm not getting into a debate over who's better, Puz or Buster Davis... but the few times that I've watched buster Davis play, I was much impressed. That guy flies all over the field and brings a load when he gets there.

When Parcells was the coach, I knew we'd never draft Davis because of his height. He's not small... only short. Well, now with Bill gone and Wade here, maybe there's a chance we could get Davis for ILB. I think the guy would light up some people. Maybe I'm wrong, but using Sam Mills as an example, he just might become a star.

I'd love to get him in about the 2nd or 3rd round and find out. Davis is a monster.

Do not compare the two teams please and this entire idea that there is only a dual nature in football laughable. Dualism is and always will be an easier way for people to understand things but it will never be something that will get you closer to the truth. Why do you think politics is the way that it is.

Its possible that Ware becomes an 8 sacks a year man. Greg Ellis is the shining example of how your theory is wrong. He has never been either great nor abysmal. If we get 42 sacks next year like the last time Phillips took over a defense? The Bengals for the last three years.

There is very much so a middle ground and 90% of everything falls into it.

He measured in at the senior bowl at like 5'9 3/4 but 245. They said he was built like a tree trunk. I like his play and his intensity. Natural leader and like most FSU, Miami, Florida guys he can talk the talk but walk the walk as well.

Thats what this D needs is a firey guy that can make plays. But I think in the NFL he will need a 4-3 to protect him from Guards that will lock on to him with their long arms and drive him back. He can fly but still, if a lineman locks on to him.. his arms might not be long enough to shed a block.

Good info. I will look at him closer.

BTW I like Patrick Willis too.

Yeah, I don't know if he'd be okay in a 3-4 either... but I really like him as a player. The times I watched him play, he was literally in on nearly every play. Always there, and always laying a lick. He impressed the heck out of me and someone is going to get a very good LB in Davis. He was the heart and soul of a very good Fl. St. defense. He made them tick.

Last year Cleveland drafted D'Quell Jackson for a 3-4, and he was undersized too. I just think a good football player can play football no matter the scheme.

Maybe he would get swallowed up by guards, but give him a crease and he'll blow up the ballcarrier like no one else. He's dynamite chasing the ball. If Wade thinks he'll work, maybe we'll get him. If not, I guess we won't.

I'd like to see him wearing the star.

Abysmal. You keep saying that. I don't think it means what you think it means.

And when, in your opinion, did Tony Romo ever play abysmally this year?

Remember, he's a Commanders fan... he probably knows the definition of abysmal. :laugh1:

Seriously, you'll have a hard time getting an unbiased opinion on Romo or anyone else in a cowboy uniform from a Commanders fan. To be fair, it's hard for us to be unbiased about Commander players as well.

Commander fans look at Commander players positives and we look at their negatives. The same goes for Cowboy fans and Cowboy players and how they're viewed by Commander fans.

The hate is strong.

What games were you watching..

Sure he came on later in the season ( ATL and SEA) but he sure did stick out during the season...

If you ever saw him on Kickoff coverage, ( replayed like me over and over again) he was getting blown up, missed tackles, couldnt shed 3 string TE's blocks etc....

I think its a confidence thing. Its hard to go from being a stud on the field(OSU) to a special teams player and still have that confidence. Especially when you are "thinking too much" and not reacting. He needs to be an everydown player from the get go next year to truly be that guy he was at OSU. He was vocal and he stood out. Its kind of hard to be a vocal leader on defense, when your getting abused on kickoff team.

Not sure where that leaves Greg Ellis but still. Greg might want another trade after Bobby takes his spot and my man A.Spencer is coming in on third downs :pray2:

That would be nasty if Dallas does to everyone what the Pats did to the Eagles in the Superbowl. Run a situational 2-5 or 3-5 defense to make use of all there talent at LB.

And I do think Ware will benefit greatly, or simply be exposed.
Its either going to be great or abysmal as far as Ware is concerned.

That secondary is the real issue, and the lack of a true DT/NG for a 3-4.

Cowboys shore up that secondary and Ware may very well become the beastly player that many Cowboys fans hoped for.

I am hoping that doesnt happen of course. ;)

he already is, and is only 24
