Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier is all but begging for a major opponent – any major opponent – to play his Broncos, particularly in 2011.

He can hardly get his calls returned. Not by the SEC. Not by the Big Ten. Not by anyone.

Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho.

Picked this up from a friend the other day. He was saying that Boise will play anyone, anywhere and nobody has yet to step up to the plate. I guess many are saying no one will because the other teams can schedule some scrub team and not have to risk a loss.

Pretty cool, I think. Lots of little schools are always shut out because "they don't play anyone" and finally one of them is gut checking the BCS.

Here's the rest of the article.

A lot of schedules are already set for 2011. Most of the time schedules are set many years in advance. I am sure changes can be made because we have seen it done in the past. Still it isn't as easy as just saying yes. You have to work out a deal to replace Team A with Team B and maybe even come up with some kind of compensation for Team A. I don't think it is impossible, but there are certain procedures and formalities to be met.

I also think a team should make the effort to get this game. If you are confident in your program then it would be a good benefit to bring Boise St. to your stadium.

I've also heard that there's some collusion within some of these conferences to force Boise State to get out of the MWC and into the Big XII.

That's why no one wants to play them.

That is interesting. I had not head that. Boise St. is in the WAC by the way not the MWC. TCU is in the MWC.

I would love to see Texas do a home and away with the following schools over the next handful of years

TCU
Houston
BYU
Boise St.
Utah
Oregon
Cincinnati
Arizona
Stanford
LSU
USF

They have done the home and home with both TCU and Houston in recent years, so it would not surprise me if the do it again in the future. They like to alternate between Rice and Houston, so they have a presence in Houston for recruiting.

They have UCLA on the schedule for the next couple of years. They aren't on your list, but that will be a nice little challenge for them.

It would be nice to see some of those other schools on their schedule or any of the major schools out of conference schedules.

I don't believe the crux of the problem is that all those BCS conference teams have their schedules set for '11.

What's the benefit?

Strength of schedule improvement, relative to the cupcakes most of the BCS conference contenders bring in to play for their out of conference matchups.

And why not bring in BSU in, beat them soundly, get them off their backs, and end talk of their "system" needing to give non-AQs a shot?

Maybe because they saw BSU suffocate a terrific Oregon offense two years in a row?
Or because they saw BSU dominating Oklahoma for most of the '07 Fiesta Bowl (what most people don't remember about that game) before the fantastic finish?
Maybe because of what Utah did to Alabama?
Maybe because the BCS conferences understand that this year's TCU team could wipe up the field with any team in the Top 5?

Arkansas and Georgia brought BSU in several years ago while they were still building their program and beat them pretty good.

I don't see those schools stepping up to play BSU now.

Personally, I think the top 4 teams in the BCS should by RULE have to play each other the following year.

That would clear up a lot of BCS bull**** at the end of the year.

Or they could simply do a playoff system like EVERY OTHER TEAM SPORT IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.
:)

The lack of the playoff system

IS

the very reason why nobody wants to play the Boise Sts and TCUs of the world. You can't afford to have an early non-conference loss and still hope to get into a big BCS bowl.

It's COOOOO--RUP-TIONNNN.

I think if the Boise States and TCUs get turned down by those teams then they should automatically receive computer system credit should they end up tied at 11-1 or 12-0 and it's final bowl time.

Beat Boise St. and they drop like a rock in the polls, lose and your season is screwed. No benefit for schools that actually have to play more than one tough game a year. If there was some great benefit teams would be lining up to play them.

Utah and Boise State playing in their Super Bowls against teams that are playing in their consolation games just doesn't mean as much to me as it does to some people.
TCU should be in the Big 12. TCU is not going to wipe the field with anyone in the top 5 except maybe Boise State.
Boise State, get rid of the stupid blue field.

If you go by regions....Boise St., Utah, and BYU should basically be in the same conference. I would even throw Colorado in there.

Boise St.
Utah
BYU
Idaho
Nevada
Colorado

now if Boise St. had to go through those teams....they would get more love from majors on playing them.

As far as the Big 12 goes....I would drop Colorado and add TCU.

BTW, lost in all of this is the fact that OG Mike Iupati had another very good game for Idaho. I watched some of the game and from what I saw, he was doing his job on the OL.

If we are able to draft him, we will definitely be able to run the ball to his side.

You shouldn't drop Baylor because Baylor is actually good in other sports. People need to get over TCU. They would be the Baylor of the Big 12 in football if Baylor never came into the league.
