BOLDIN SAYS RELATIONSHIP WITH CARDINALS CAN’T BE REPAIRED

Posted by Mike Florio on February 6, 2009, 12:14 p.m.
The good news for the Cardinals is that receiver Anquan Boldin wasn’t a distraction in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.
The bad news is that he apparently plans to make up for lost time.
“I don’t think the relationship can be repaired with the organization,” Boldin told USA Today on Thursday (via Edgar Thompson of the Palm Beach Post). “It takes more than, ‘Well, we did you wrong and we’ll pay you this.’ It’s not about the money. It was always about the principle. Guys being true to their word. I guess I was expected to uphold my end of the bargain, and it wasn’t reciprocated.”
Though both receiver Larry Fitzgerald and quarterback Kurt Warner have said that Boldin needs to return, Boldin doesn’t seemed to be swayed by their desires.
Of course, if the franchise chooses to squat on his rights for the next two seasons, Boldin really doesn’t have any options. He’ll either play for the Cardinals at the salary the team has promised to pay him, or he’ll play for no one — and repay to the Cardinals a big chunk of bonus money he already has received.
Still, at some point, the team needs to think about getting what they can for Boldin, and moving on. Despite the fact that the franchise made it through one season with Boldin not wanting to be there, it’s got to be hard for coach Ken Whisenhunt to have Boldin in the building after he said this in August 2008: “At this point we have no relationship, and I don’t see that changing,” Boldin said at the time on NFL Network. “It’s just gotten to a point where I think lines were crossed. If you ask me, coaches should be coaches, management should be management, and I don’t think those lines should be crossed. But when you cross those lines, you put yourself in postiion for things like this to happen.”
If receiver Roy Williams resulted in a first-round pick, a third-round pick, and a fifth-round pick for the Lions, Boldin should bring in even more than that for the Cardinals — and the Cardinals would be wise to cut their best deal and move on.

The Eagles have 2 first round picks, let's hope he doesn't wind up there.

Philly is about to drop off a little I believe.
However, if the somehow got Boldin and Jacobs, that may put them over the hump.

He is also being linked to the Giants.
I never had a problem with Boldin but , i have a bad feeling he's gonna end up in NY or Philly. I now hate the guy. TO the second

He's the reason they lost the SB, can't have distractions.

You remember when we traded for Galloway and then Keyshawn came available?

Me, I remember thinking "Damn, if we had only waited."

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Lets see...

they lost because Warner threw a goalline INT
the team couldnt tackle the guy for 100 yards
the defense couldnt stop the last Stealer drive
the non-call on the TD celebration
the review of Warner fumble

I dont see where Boldin distracted?

Oh wait... I got it...

Warner threw the INT because he was thinking about Boldin
the team didnt tackle because they were thinking about Boldin
the defense couldnt stop the last Stealer drive because they were thinking about Boldin
the non-call on the TD celebration because they were thinking about Boldin
the review of Warner fumble because they were thinking about Boldin

Got it - thanks:rolleyes:

Don't forget his influence on Kurt Warner with his CONSTANT COMPLAINING. Now I know, I know, we never saw any of this stuff on the sidelines, but I'll tell ya what, man--it's just GOTTA be happening, it's just GOTTA!

I'm sure that behind the scenes, Anquan Boldin is screaming his head off at Warner and Todd Haley to get him the ball, and it's causing them to get away from the run too much. Heck, look at how little they ran the ball this year.

Getting rid of Boldin will be addition by subtraction for them. They're good enough to win without him.

or how about that he was screaming in the face of his OC while said OC was trying to keep his head in his playbook.. trying to lead his offense down the field for what should have been game winning drive...

but since Boldin didnt have his number called it turned into --TO time......i mean Boldin time.....cause ya know him getting his way had to be more important than what was going on in the game............

I dont want this guy anywhere near Valley Ranch

Why is this a constant complaint?

The same people who complain about the coverage, love our owner who promotes the team and does not do anything but encourage the hype to begin with.

I have never seen where the media doing their job is continually chastized.

Are they blameless, of course not. But what are they supposed to do? Ignore the highest profile team in the league and start creating in-depth reports about the inner workings of the Cincinnati Bengals?

Of course they are concerned about ratings. Do they not have to justify their jobs?

And as long as people consume the product, it will exist.

So please please please stop with the media demonization.

It is about as redundant as calling a lawyer a crook. We know, but they are executing a job that wouldn't exist if the society didn't ask for it.

Put the blame where it belongs. The more the team is marketing itself and makes itself accessible, that is where the problem lies.

Look at Kansas City. They were able to completely excise the media for weeks and hire a head coach. Nobody could even find out if anyone interviewed.

The media can be controlled. But the whole thing is, the franchise has to want to control that.

We tried under Coach Parcells and since that created "eggshells" for our owner, it has now come to this point.

Don't blame the media.

Again, look for the source of the real problem.

so you condone his actions? what if those few seconds of his tirade had distracted Haley and they would have lost......then i guess you would have blamed Haley for bad play calling......these players have to stop putting themselves before the team....why is that such a hard concept to grasp.....

divine intervention...?

I actually dont like the any pub is good pub. What it has created is a cast of players since mid 1990s that are concerned about getting on TV rather than winning. It only gets worse as the media platforms have expanded in number. The Irvin/McIver incident was MUCH bigger than anything that went on this year, and it was about 2 days of talk.

Don't really blame the media, moreso the dumb fans that run with every morsel of info and blow it out of proportion.

true. but since they know it sells, it is natural tendency to "outscoop" the competition. The "reporting" and "op-ed" are one in the same now. Half of this is not news but assumption and spin. look how Reeves words were spun

And I think Jerry did that for a few weeks until Reeves went on his world tour to say "we didn't sign a contract". That is what I thought Jerry meant by saying "he got it". Society craves for National Enquirer also, it is the best seller, sometimes their right, but many times they are exaggeratting.

Parcells did the best job of that, and that is the single reason I do admire Belichek.

The problem with Parcells was a little bad luck and being a little out of touch

Still, he was good while he was here. A botched snap away from a hell of story - make for wide right maybe
