Gee...they had all that distraction going on and still managed to make it through the playoffs and too the Superbowl?!?! Hummm....I wonder how that happened.
dadymat;2626328 said:so you condone his actions? what if those few seconds of his tirade had distracted Haley and they would have lost......then i guess you would have blamed Haley for bad play calling......these players have to stop putting themselves before the team....why is that such a hard concept to grasp.....
divine intervention...?

The exact point is that .....they won. Are willing to say they won "due to" the distraction?
Distractions in football are a little harder to impact professionals like the distraction of a mom/wife/dog walking in front of the TV while you are running a corner route in Madden.
When you are on the field, distractions really don't play the role everyone wants you to believe. but boy it sells and people get lathered by it everyone.
I live in Charlotte, and Steve Smith breaking Lucas's nose received less press. No one here got near as lathered up at that as they have about what TO might have said, didn't say, Wade doing, not doing, et al.
The best thing that could happen is a media lockdown. Some have abided, some have not.

It only gets worse as the media platforms have expanded in number. The Irvin/McIver incident was MUCH bigger than anything that went on this year, and it was about 2 days of talk.
Don't really blame the media, moreso the dumb fans that run with every morsel of info and blow it out of proportion.
And I think Jerry did that for a few weeks until Reeves went on his world tour to say "we didn't sign a contract". That is what I thought Jerry meant by saying "he got it". Society craves for National Enquirer also, it is the best seller, sometimes their right, but many times they are exaggeratting.
Parcells did the best job of that, and that is the single reason I do admire Belichek.
The problem with Parcells was a little bad luck and being a little out of touch
Still, he was good while he was here. A botched snap away from a hell of story - make for wide right maybe

and there is a problem with your outlook...that is not the exact point...they won without him on the field ....the exact point is he put himself before the team...
he did not care that his coach was trying to call in a play, he didnt care his team mates were in battle , he did not care if his actions were a distraction, bottom line is that he didnt care that his team was at work trying to win a playoff game....all he cared about was the fact he got pulled out of the game and instead of supporting his team and cheering them on he chose to attack his coach and make a fool of himself on national TV.....he didnt even celebrate the win with his team....why? cause he was upset he didnt get used how he thought he should have been used
McLovin;2626407 said:NO, the point is FACTUAL. The team WON. If you have a strong minded team and coaches, distractions are de minimis. (If your point is that the coaches aren't equipped to handle TO, RW and Newman, Ellis then that is another subject)
I just don't get how much stock people put in player arguements. Cardinals win that game and the Cowboys win NYG #2.
I submit Distractions + Losses are more correlated to 0.0 than 1.0.

The same people who complain about the coverage, love our owner who promotes the team and does not do anything but encourage the hype to begin with.
I have never seen where the media doing their job is continually chastized.
Are they blameless, of course not. But what are they supposed to do? Ignore the highest profile team in the league and start creating in-depth reports about the inner workings of the Cincinnati Bengals?
Of course they are concerned about ratings. Do they not have to justify their jobs?
And as long as people consume the product, it will exist.
So please please please stop with the media demonization.
It is about as redundant as calling a lawyer a crook. We know, but they are executing a job that wouldn't exist if the society didn't ask for it.
Put the blame where it belongs. The more the team is marketing itself and makes itself accessible, that is where the problem lies.
Look at Kansas City. They were able to completely excise the media for weeks and hire a head coach. Nobody could even find out if anyone interviewed.
The media can be controlled. But the whole thing is, the franchise has to want to control that.
We tried under Coach Parcells and since that created "eggshells" for our owner, it has now come to this point.
Don't blame the media.
Again, look for the source of the real problem.
