Not sure what to say except, Pay the man!

Wow, that kid is good. The way he takes each fight to his opponent in their own style is simply a thing of beauty.
It basically shuts down rematch talk because he already won in the way that was the other poor guy's best chance.

They kept showing Cormier's corner and the was like.. I am trying. DC actually broke. Crazy!!!!

Pound for Pound best in the sport without a doubt IMHO.

Jones is the best in the business right now, but wouldn't you like to see another fight against Gustafsson? If nothing else, the dude brought the pain to Jones, and it wasn't exactly a one-sided fight. I think fight fans deserve another match between those 2.

I don't know what fight the OP was watching but I didn't see Cormier breaking. I suspect he's just a Jones fan talking nonsense.

I thought it was a great fight for 3 rounds. Then Jones decided he wanted no part of exchanging with DZ anymore and used his length to ride out the last two rounds. Dana White even mentioned after the fight that Herb Dean did a terrible job allowing the two fighters to basically hug each other the entire 5th round.

I had Jones winning it 48-47, but I definitely believe he wasn't capable of going blow for blow anymore after that 3rd round. He couldn't take it. He tried to knock him out and saw that he was losing that battle. So he reverted to plan B and used his God given length to get the win.

Gustafsson, Cormier again, Anthony Johnson. There are fights for him.

Couldn't agree more. The way the first 3 rounds were going, Jones was not going to be able to take much more. Without Jones's length, he wouldn't win half of his fights. The last 2 rounds were cage hugging more or less.

2 notes: Jones cannot go one fight without poking his opponent in the eyes. It shouldn't even have to be explained to him anymore.

Also not a fan of his post fight antics. The premature celebration --> sucker punch when DC conceded was very punkish. As well as Jones doing the crotch chop to DC.

For all of the talent Jones can display in the cage, he sure is a punk outside of that.

Jones dominated that fight and Cormier was indeed broken and beat at his own game. It was an impressive victory.

You could tell he was broken coming out for the 4th round. Jones easily won rounds 3-5 the first 2 rounds were awesome I gave them 1 each. Domination.

His corner said "do you wanna win his?" And he said I am trying....
He was gassed and took round 4 totally off.
In round 5 he basically said I am going to lose but I am going to get 1 takedown.
He worked 3 minutes to get that one takedown and by then the fight was over.

His corner told him before the round he needed a finish and he needed to be way more busy with his hands.
Instead he spent the round pressed up against the cage or in the clinch trying slick wrestling moves for a take down.
Jones broke him. Anyone not a fan boy saw that.

FWIW, I like Cormier more. He is an OKST wrestler and I saw him fight live in OKC (4 hour drive) for Strikeforce.
I am a big fan.
But he did break and he did not want anymore Bones.

Bones is an egomaniac but he is also the best in the world and this isn't a team sport.
Bones = Rousey.
The best male/females int he sport and completely unabashedly confident.

Bones outwrestled a guy who walks around at 235 pounds and was an Olympic wrestler.
He fought 3 close rounds in the clinch where everyone said Cormier would absolutely dominate. And then took round 5 in the same clinch style easily.

I doubt there will even be a re-match.
It's like when he choked out Machida standing or outwrestled Chael.
When a guy beats you with your game plan there really is no plan B.

Winner of Gus/Johnson is who he'll get. Should be a good fight either way but Bones is undoubtedly more dangerous to those guys now having trained so hard in his wrestling for Cormier.

I think a superfight with Cain happens eventually.

What would be really interesting is perhaps a super fight with Anderson Silva.
A couple really long dudes with insane reigns and Silva would make a lot of money and have nothing to lose.
If/when he beats Diaz he'll need a fight not named Wiedman that can sell as a main event.

If Cormier stays at 205 he could fight the Gus/Rumble loser as an eliminator type fight.

But if I were Cormier I'd want to face a couple top 5 guys at LHW to get ready to go.
Jumping from the spares he's beaten down at 205 to have 5 rounds with Bones was a big ask.

BTW, UFC 185 is coming to Dallas and I am going to try to go.
I saw Strikeforce in the AA and it was glorious.
I got a pic with Miesha Tate that night and the wife got one with Bigfoot Silva.

Pettis, Dos Anjos is a good but not great main event so hopefully the remainder of the card will be stacked.
I probably can't afford floor seats this time but it is close to my wife's birthday and she loves pretty boy Pettis.

I see Jones and Cormier fighting again. There are not alot of active fighters in the LHW and HW divisions, and Cormier will easily follow him.

DC has the tools to beat Jones no doubt. He was en route to doing so until he got stalled against the cage for the later 2 rounds. Jones has some pretty horrid boxing, and that is his weakness.

Jones does not have KO power, and I believe Gus/ AJ can easily beat him.

Granted I think Gus already did imo, but it will happen again.

Not sure what to say except that is mostly inaccurate man.

Gus will be a tough fight for sure. But I am not sure it will be nearly as close as the first one.
Bones had to be woken up to pay attention and train hard.

Rumble is simply not at that level really. He is a great puncher but he lacks length and wrestling and especially cardio.
It will be a surprise if he gets to the fight but if he does that one will favor Bones by a massive margin.

Cormier was not close to winning that fight. He was given 1 round by all 3 judges. He lost FOUR rounds.
Anyone who thought he was close to winning is simply a Jones hater or a big Cormier fan boy.
There were some close rounds in 2 and 3. Cormier took 2 and only lost 3 by a small margin.
As to scoring Cormier's corner had the same score as the judges FWIW.
They acknowledged in round 5 he needed to finish to win. Rounds 4 and 5 were not even close.
In fact Jones won 1,4,5 easily. Lost 2 pretty soundly and edged out 3.

Jones kicks, knees and elbows make up for his mediocre boxing game.
He has deadly Muay Thai. good BJJ and the best elbows in the sport by far.
The guy has destroyed stand up wizards like Machida, Shogun, Rampage.
He's beaten BJJ guys and wrestlers. All world class fighters.
And when fighting gate keeper types he outclassed them so thoroughly they seldom ever fought UFC again.
Only Gus has ever really been a close fight.
The others have been senseless beatings where it looked like the opponents were in the wrong sport.
The only thing close was what Spider Silva did to guys.

He does keep his hands up and open but so do a lot of other fighters. It is how they catch punches and close distance.
He got in a solid eye poke there but it was one the entire fight.
Only rampant haters would even think of it as a factor.

The first fight went to Gus in my opinion. Jones left that fight on a stretcher, and I had Gus with 3 of those 5 rounds. Gus is a far superior boxer than Jones is, which is why Jones got tagged so many times by him.

When I said that Jones has very poor boxing, that wasn't directed towards his Muay Thai. He has very good Muay Thai, but his boxing is very poor. When he gets into boxing contests with other fighters he gets tagged quite often. This was evident in the 2nd round of the DC fight where Jones was getting tagged left and right when they were boxing. That has nothing to do with his Muay Thai, which I highly respect.

Jones is very talented, I am not insulting him in that regard. He is able to use his freakish range and long limbs to an advantage that is nearly impossible to overcome when used at a high level. I do want to say that if he didn't completely hold such a long reach of his opponents, he would not be as successful.

When I said DC / Jones was a close fight I stand by that completely. Rounds 1-3 were all close rounds. DC was doing very well getting on the inside for the first 3 rounds, and at the rate at which Bones was getting tagged could of easily won before Jones decided to push DC into the cage and "grind it out" . I think round 1 was as close as round 3 imo.

If they fight again I am sure itll be another close fight.

Now I will address the eye pokes. He has an 82 inch reach and keeps his fingers pointed out every single fight. Why does he do this? It is a stiff arm that will work against any opponent to keep them at range. He uses his length to make it difficult to even get inside, which is genetics based of course. Not only does he have that advantage, but he knows that he can get away with an eye poke before he gets warned. He blatantly keeps his fingers pointed out and every fight gets a very good eye poke in. I have watched every JBJ fight and the last 5 fights there have been at the minimum one good eye poke per contest. He is the only fighter I know that does this every single fight, which is a shame because he shouldn't have to resort to that. He knows better than that, and it is a dirty tactic whether you want to admit or not.

Anthony Johnson will eat him up when they fight. Want to know why? Jon Jones likes to play the games of his opponent and beat them at their game. He won't take AJ down simply due to his egotistical nature. Also AJ has easily the best KO and boxing in that division outside of Gus. How many times did JBJ get tagged by Gus and DC ? It will take only 1 of those to put JBJ on wobbly feet.

I don't like Jones because of his personality, especially after meeting him when he was a very nice and humble individual when he fought Vera in Broomfield. Being a champion has brought out some deep personality flaws in the man, that I hope he can correct.

There was a lot of silly in that post man.
Wayyy too much haterade to be taken seriously.

I met him a number of times when I went to school in Ithaca and was always pretty cool...

...but he's been a total tool in his interviews and through the whole Cormier thing.

Pretty much what I saw from the fight.

He did a good job, got his lead, and then he laid back and didn't do anything to get himself in any kind of real trouble the final two rounds.

I enjoyed the fight for 4 rounds but I agree with White that Herb did an awful job that final round and just basically let them get away with doing absolutely nothing.

I don't think DC broke but I didn't feel like he ever got the confidence in the fight he needed. When he couldn't take Jones down, at will, as he'd claimed all along he would I felt like it hurt his confidence entirely.

The UFC supposedly had a terrible PPV year last year and they ended up increasing the price of their PPVs for this year.

Anybody think that's a good move? Not every card is going to have Jones/DC at the top of it.
