What she fails to recognize is that how Romo has handled himself in media interviews was his job interview. Yes, he has a lot to learn about the job, but charisma is not something that comes as naturally to all of us as it does to Romo.

It was the same with Aikman. He also was coveted as a broadcaster because of his interviews.

Now, that doesn't mean it always works out, but starting with someone who can handle themselves when a mic is stuck in his face isn't a bad way to do business.

Has anyone ever just listened to a conversation that included Tony Romo? The guy is hilarious, great sense of humor. He's got all kinds of personality, he is knowledgeable, he is spontaneous, he just looks like he loves to have fun.

We could see the next Don Meredith.

Tony would get the job because he will be the most entertaining, he will increase their ratings, this lady seems to forget that is what it is all about, they don't care about seniority, nor should they. The starting job goes to talent and results, not seniority.

Tony could even be remembered more for his TV analyst career, and the best thing is he will be part of the NFL for many years to come if he chooses.

Communicating on a headset as a NFL QB is nothing like commentating in a broadcast booth. Aikman, Steve Young, Simms, etc. will tell you that.
If Troy Aikman or Steve Young would tell us this then why aren't they telling us this? You cite no evidence that this is their opinion.

One of Bernstein's main points is that she's had numerous former players tell her that they struggle mightily making the transition.

Why?

Because it's completely different from anything they have ever done.

It's like saying since I've driven on the Audubon before...I can easily make the transition to Formula 1 driving.
Rather than attempting to spoon feed us Bonnie Bernstein's main points, it would be a more effective argument to just link to them and allow us to read it for ourselves. I've seen none of these comments from her testifying to other's struggles on the job. I'm not saying they don't exist, I just haven't seen them. Simms, I can believe struggles which explains his dismissal.

I lived in Germany for a few years and have driven on the autobahn. For that experience, I feel no more qualified to drive a Formula 1 car. It's an absurd comparison that no one is making. It's not at all a kin to my giving credence to Romo former job assisting him in his new gig.

That sounds rather vague, lad.
You know, vagueness like that was once responsible for me jumping out of a 2-story window. And I am not the jumper I used to be.
