I just finished "The Plot to Hack America", by international counterterrorism expert Malcolm Nance.

Great eye-opening stuff.

Never Die Easy by Walter Payton...GREAT book...very emotional in some parts.
He knew he wasn't going to make it when he wrote it...incredible book.

Anything by Louis L'Amour.

And if you think he's just a western writer, try "Last of the Breed" and "The Walking Drum."

I'd add Haunted Mesa to that list. It's about the Anasazi, Skin-walkers, and travel between parallel universes. Very outside the box for L'Amour and a good read.

"Undaunted Courage" by Stephen Ambrose.
The Lewis and Clark exploration of the Louisiana Purchase. An amazing expedition.

Excellent book. It's the best Lewis and Clark book I've read and I've passed it along to a lot of people. If you enjoyed that one I'd also recommend The River Of Doubt by Candice Millard. She's a great history writer and I've enjoyed all of her books. This one follows Roosevelt on an expedition down The River Of Doubt an unmapped tributary of the Amazon that kills one, and nearly kills Roosevelt and his son.

"Paris" by Edward Rutherfurd (2013) is long but interesting. It is a historical fiction novel, telling the story of several generations of a few French families. The part about the construction of the Eiffel Tower was especially interesting. Most of the reviews say it was too long and packed with too many details, but that's exactly why I liked it!

There was no expectation of reading anything but sub par literature after completing all the Dr. Suess books, so I quit reading books altogether at age 7.

I read them a few years ago. If you're interested in Cowboy books, I have lists of over 500 books by and about the Cowboys (and DCC, fiction, etc.) at my Dallas Cowboy Books Blog on Facebook:

I read The Sackett series by L'Amour. Good stuff. Also reading the Texas Rangers series by Elmer Kelton.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. I like Historical fiction and this takes place in **** occupied France. Her first novel and it wasn't at all what I expected. Can't judge a book by the name or the cover. A very good read. Definitely moved up the list of favorites.

Also for any music biography fans I recommend Nikki Sixx's The Heroin Diaries. 'Dirt' the Motley Crue story is pretty good too. You don't even have to be a Crue fan to read either one. just some good old R&R Debauchery. lol

Dirt was kickass excellent, Nicki Sixx's book is on my short list. Watch You Bleed, Guns and Roses by Stephan Davis is excellent as well. Most of my reading these days is online which is a shame.

I'll have to add watch you bleed to my list. Thanks. Definitely check out Nikki's book. Still one of my favorites. I agree. Online changed everything. I still like a physical book. Can't deal with ereaders etc. I'm old school. lol

Thanks, JB, Teddy Roosevelt is one of my favorite Americans. I'll look that one up soonest!. His work with the NYC museum of Natural History is nothing short of magnificent.
