Booker: we got a football player

And Nolan, while a great talent, has some red flags on the character/effort side of things. There were rumors that he had bad practice habits.

Per Albert Breer

“Two of the more fascinating prospects this year are Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen and Tennessee DE James Pearce Jr. Both have faced character questions. Nolen’s practice habits and sense of entitlement have been questioned, while Pearce is seen as a bit edgy, and had a reputation for being divisive in college.

It could have been a tiebreaker for the Cowboys.
I think with some of these players with all the money they are making now in college we are seeing beforehand how money impact their character. I think this is why we hear Scotty is looking for players that love football.

...it's about value. Are you comfortable taking a DT in the top 15 if he's not even going to be a three down player? He has question marks all over his pass rushing ability, his ceiling as a run stopper is high and I understand the value in that - at 15 though, you are looking for all around guys.

There will be defensive guys in the second round not THAT far off from Grant. Seriously, go watch some tape on them and then see how most experts graded them. I've seen sites rank Grant in the 20s.
Nolen is a 3 down player. There are plenty of people who think Grant will be as well. The guy can play and has lots of upside. I would suggest you watch him
Re your other comments, you are contradicting yourself. Literally the same is true about the guy we picked.

Wasted Pick in the First Round

Should have picked a receiver in the first round. Offensive lineman take years to develop we need an impact player on offense, Booker is average at best.
Which WR would have avoided chuck's wrath?

Nolen has some red flags about consistency. Grant will offer little to nothing when it comes to pass rush in a league that is about the pass. I wouldn't have hated the Grant pick, but you can easily see why they chose Booker.
I'm not sure why fan are having trouble with this. We have a huge opening for starting position at Right guard. We do not have an opening starting position at defensive tackle. Yes we do need a solid run defender. But they were not going to draft a two down player at 12. Especially in a draft that is loaded with defensive tackles. I'm expecting us to still get a good defensive tackle one of the later pics

And, while I loved McMillan as a football player, I thought it was kind of scary that he said he doesn’t like football or watching film.

——- When asked if he liked football, the wide receiver quickly responded “No, not at all.” This extends to film as well. This isn’t a big deal to him, however, because he’s still getting film study done with the team. "I don’t ever need to watch it by myself because we go over it as a receiver group,” McMillan explained.

My guess is in the 3rd. And whoever it will be will be very physical at that spot.

Booker was a great pick. He fits to a T what Shotty and Adams have been saying they want on OL.

After Tet was drafted it really was Him or a trade down. Found it interesting McClay paused until hearing who San Fran drafted before dialing Bookers number.

I do wonder if they've taken someone else if Mykel was the DT they would've picked.

This pick don't put points on the board.

Indirectly it does and as they say games are won in the trenches. We don't have just one pick in the draft.

Booker is a Martin close. And a walk in day 1 starter at RG.

Considering that front 7 in Philly, yeah this was a much needed pick and exactly the player the Cowboys needed.
Meh. I don't agree with this about Booker. He has played LG his whole college career. Plus, he is very slow off the ball, especially on pulls (traps, screens, etc).

Against Philly, the Cowboys Oline did ok. Hoffman played well. Didn't look bad or overwhelmed. Our Defense is who got dominated, plus some dumb turnovers on offense.

Maybe move Tyler Smith to Left Tackle, plug rookie Tyler Booker at his natural position of Left Guard. Keep Hoffman at Right Guard, and let Tyler Guyton and Terence Steele fight it out for the starting Right Tackle position.

From what I remember, McClayvwas waiting until Stephen finished the call with Houston.

Love the pick.. we finally doing something to fix the run game

Yeah.

I remember the posts about Mazi loving to “hit people”

How did that turn out?

You have Hoffman on the roster and have needs at every position on offense and draft a guard. This kid could be Zach Martin. It doesn’t matter if the only weapon on offense is Lamb.

I'm not gonna lie. I wanted Kenneth Grant. I saw him as a top 15 player and couldn't figure out why he was rated so low by most draft gurus.

Having Tyler Smith, I just didn't think they would draft a guard. So I didn't look at any until someone mentioned Zabel.

So, I get home from work. And I check out this guy Tyler Booker and he reminds me of another guard we once had. Just dominates. No doubt we hit on the first pick. Like, no doubt. That's all I wanted: a good football player who can start day 1. I think he'll dominate as a rookie.

If I had more time and knew they would draft a guard, Booker would no doubt have been on my radar. He just jumps off the screen, which says a lot for a guard.

As far as player, I think we got a better player than Grant even though I feel we needed a DT more. I just can't argue against this pick. It means we can move Tyler Smith to LT, which I assume they'll be doing now. And Guyton to RT. That makes us a much better team. We now have a dominant offensive line, ladies and gents.

I can't wait to see what the offense will look like now.

A+ pick!

Stop. This dude is a waaay better pick than Mazi. Dominant. He'll be stellar.

“We made a mistake starting 2 rookies on the OL this season and it costed us.”

Jerry Jones last season.

Also Jerry jones

Drafting a rookie OL the very next year.
Aw, someone didn't get their way. How can you not like this pick? Tyler Smith goes back to LT... we're gonna be a way better team now.

This has nothing to do with my way.

The needs of the team outweigh my wants/needs and guard wasn’t a need.

Tyler smith won’t be moving to LT. He’s an all pro guard. You don’t move players like that. He also struggled mightily at LT and his penalty problem was exposed so it’s a dumb idea in the first place.

Second of all. Booker is a good player. I like him. Unfortunately now they have to force a pick on a WR and a RB because they didn’t fill that need in FA. That’s what I am mad at. Booker is a great pick…for a team whose weapons on offense don’t end at CeeDee lamb.

Before being condescending, ask.

Will be in his prime just in time for our new franchise quarterback when Dak is finished his career
