Booker: we got a football player

He is a good player no doubt but Grant would have been the wiser choice. He would impact the run defense immediately. I can’t be unhappy with the trenches getting some love but it was on the wrong side.
The Dallas interior line is set to the level of lines when Jerry started the process and last with Smith, Martin, and Travis Federick and even in the 30 year calendar period, teams hated to go against the 'big three!'

This pick don't put points on the board.

Crap, Coach got exactly what he wanted without excuses. 'Elizabeth, it's the big one.'

This has nothing to do with my way.

The needs of the team outweigh my wants/needs and guard wasn’t a need.

Tyler smith won’t be moving to LT. He’s an all pro guard. You don’t move players like that. He also struggled mightily at LT and his penalty problem was exposed so it’s a dumb idea in the first place.

Second of all. Booker is a good player. I like him. Unfortunately now they have to force a pick on a WR and a RB because they didn’t fill that need in FA. That’s what I am mad at. Booker is a great pick…for a team whose weapons on offense don’t end at CeeDee lamb.

Before being condescending, ask.
BPA. Grant was most definitely a top 15 player, in my mind. I wanted Grant. I see exactly why they drafted Booker. We now have a new LT, RT and RG. Brilliant. I only wish I'd have thought of that.

Also, someone else pointed out that Grant would likely be a two down player for us, which makes it a tad more difficult to justify a round one pick.

Don't get me wrong. I see pass rush ability in Grant. I just think this kills more birds with one proverbial stone.

They crushed it. If T Smith isn't going to tackle, where is he going? They can't both play LT....

Great post

All the people who actually know him, coached him, played with him, talk about how nasty he is. Every one talks about his leadership, competitiveness, and confidence. Plus his idol is Larry Allen.

Now, I’m not pretending to be an expert, at all, on him, but there are no hints that maturity, effort, character, are even remote concerns. The opposite actually.

Now, we just need to see it on the field
Like all players selected in the draft, right? I think he will be solid for a long time, but my thoughts and a quarter definitely will not buy a cup of coffee. Like you said, he's a big, nasty dude who was very effective in pass pro and blocking the run game in college. Not a sexy pick, but I think it was probably the right pick. Now a WR and a RB1.

Everybody knows you don’t win football games unless you win it in the pits. He’s not flash, but he’s the best guard in this year‘s draft.
Now that we took him, he was the best choice left.

The defense side is deeper wait for day two or three

The Cowboys need to upgrade or get a lot better play from their offensive tackles.
As the season went on, Tyler played better and better at left tackle. We’re going to have a monster offensive line.

We had the 12th pick, we re excited to pick something we could have gotten in the second round. Instead of impact at a positon of need, get excited to complain about a contract down the road.

Love the player and the fit, hate that we drafted him this high. But when you identify your guy, don't mess around with your food, you just eat it. We made the right decision.

There was obviously no choice, the guys we wanted were gone. This guy has almost a 9 foot wingspan think about that.

Who would you have taken that was left. That would’ve been better.

i would take two players, one because this team doesnt want to address it but it will be to be addressed 1 of 2 ways.

Give me, at 12, because we re drafting for impact and value. I ll take CB Jahdae Barron, and we all know why. Or give me Derrick Harmon and we all know why. This team refuses to address the impacts at the spot and the value and how to start recovering from choices we think are sexy but are not.

This player at this pick could have been had or addressed for the less value and impact at a later round.

We are talking about a team here, no one player is going to put this team over the hump. JJ knows this but the more crucial point is, he knows with authority he can tell this fanbase what to enjoy and you guys WILL drink with a 30 percent price hike.
