What have you purchased from an add on TV?

I recently bought a "Tobi" from Kohls and it does work. (Be careful of the steam)

Now my whole family uses it. Works good on every type of clothing. It even worked on the carpet where a couch used to sit. Lifted the fibers right up and now you can't tell the couch ever sat there.

What have you bought that worked?

I didn't buy them, but I know that Sham Wows suck...and don't use them on your car...it'll micro-scratch the hell out of it.

I wondered about that. Watch on the commercial and when he does the "carpet test", he switches the carpet.

I heard anything Billy Mays sales sucks.

You know how most of the items are 19.99?

Well word is they have 30 dollar shipping on a lot of that stuff.

And if you open the box there is no return... So that way when you know its officially a sucky item you can't send it back.

My first Quik-Cook-Grill about 12 years ago. It came with one of those Ginsu knives. The grill was decent and served it's purpose. Then I sold it on eBay from about what I paid for it. The knife was awesome and still gets used all the time. I actually bought a couple more grills to sell on eBay just so I could have a couple extra knives. :D

I've never purchased anything from a TV add, but I have called in to the Knife Show before.

There are "As Seen On TV" stores in outlet malls now. We've shopped at some to check out the stuff. I am really glad I passed on most of it. You could tell the stuff was cheaply made.

I didn't know that Rain-x was a TV product....that stuff is pretty damn good. I still use the Rain-x wipers.

I've bought music from the TV ads.

My friend bought one of those new blanket thingies you can wrap up in while watching TV. I forget the name, but she loves it.

I don't know about the Billy Mays products sucking, but there's a new show on Discovery called Pitch Men. Billy Mays is one of the two guys it focuses on. They won't advertise for a product until after they test it pretty rigurously.

Really good show by the way. Billy Mays amuses me because of just how nervous he gets when they ask him to do weird crap like handle a skunk for an odor product or put his hand under a car for a shoe insert.
