Going into the draft last year I had Bosa as a solid at best player.

I feel the same way about Charlton and while Bosa had much better technique in college I hope Charlton can prove me wrong like Bosa so far has.

I was looking at both of their combine numbers and they were pretty similar.

Anyways do you see this as any similarities between the two?

Edit: I meant to post this in the DraftZone..

Not even remotely similar other than having played in the same conference.

Just have a quick question. Is Taco a nick name or is that his given birth name?

The little bit i saw, he looks like a dead ringer for David Irving in how he rushes. Big, tall, angular with some bend. Irving appears to play with more power. But admittedly i have not watched a lot of Charlton.

If our team makes the playoffs, I hope he can perform better than Irving. Irving had 1 tackle and no sacks. He was a ghost. Mediocrity at its finest.

Playing in the trenches in the Big Ten is a huge plus.
Even if you don't see the results you want on every play, it helps. as most fans want a huge play from players every play from a first rounder.
He played well against Ohio State, he play well against Ramzyck of Wisconsin. That can say a lot.

It's a fair comparison but also to be expected... Irving has been a professional football player and gone through 3 (?) NFL training camps, slightly older, slightly larger.

I don't think enough is being said about the height of these 2 bookend DE's and how that will affect QB vision and reads.

I also think Taco may be a clean-up sack kind of player who will get enough pressure and has enough size to be around the QB consistently. No he's not going to get as many free runs to the QB at the next level, and he's no Von Miller speed rusher- but he is a guy that will swelter the pocket with his presence and does not get moved easily.

He also does a nice job washing down the line in the run game.

IMO, neither looked super special in college either. Which is why im comparing the two.

Not really sure how much better Bosa could have looked. His stats were off the charts. His effort was unquestioned. He had multiple pass rush moves already. He had a sustained level of high production.

Bosa was about as ready to contribute as it gets at De. Taco is far more raw but has potentially better upside.

I agree with most of this. With Bosa, I saw a refined pass rusher with multiple moves and a ferociousness when he got the quarterback in his sight. I had no doubts about what he was. With Charlton, you can see the potential for him to get to that level, but the fact that he's not there (yet) is why he was available at 28. I'm not sure if he has "potentially better upside," but we can look at Bosa and see what Charlton can become at least.

Bosa had a non stop motor. Does Taco??
nope. not by a mile but one would have cost you zeke plus this year's 1st. the other cost you pick 28.

People are freaking out because they had been talked into the fact we were gonna draft some 245 pound OLB.
But we've gotten away from that defense and just spent two years adding 20 pounds to Randy Gregory so he can stay on the field at DE.

Dallas wants bigger DEs.
Taco will back up Bensoin Mayowa as a rookie and any motor concerns will be handled by the bench.

I actually like the size. We are a small enough group to begin with. At pick 28 we weren't getting LT anyway. If we got Greg Ellis I am stoked!

If we got Justin Tuck?? I'll faint!
