Both Jones' are unsure with how to proceed on direction of the team

I think we are getting to unfamiliar territory for the Jones’ in how to direct/plan for the team’s future. I think both wanted to see more playoff success this past season-not just because of stroking their egos but also because it would make marketing and future planning so much easier. If any season was set up for a deep playoff run (at least CCG)-it was this past one. Don’t have to face SF till that game. Plus, you could endlessly market the fact that you finally broke the 28 year drought even if SF destroyed the team yet again.

I think that GB game actually bummed Jerry out. I think he and Stephen see that the squad has plateaued with Dak, and last season was the best chance they will ever get to market him as a guy that can help advance Dallas in the postseason. That makes planning any future with Dak way more tenuous. It is extremely unlikely that Dak plays more than 5 seasons as a starter (and I think it likely that could plummet if he gets poor or just average offensive line play even for one season-which might happen this season).

I think both Jones’ are unsure with how to even approach a retool season without an apparent future QB to plan around. It has been awhile since they had to start over with a complete unknown (before Romo).

If what I say is true, we fans will not get any public acknowledgement from either Jones (because of the ensuing marketing disaster). They will speak in meaningless platitudes, but may not extend Dak before the season (all but assuring his last season with Dallas).

All makes sense. Probably much truth there.

Jerry doesn’t want to move on from Dak, but similar to Garrett, there reaches a point when they can’t sell it anymore. I think they want Dak back but only at a certain number, then they can sell it that way. They got a bargain!

In order for that to happen, he has to have a down year, and they seem perfectly willing to do all they can to make that happen.

It’s an illogical way for an 82 year old to approach an off-season this way after you’ve called yourself “close.” Even from the kid’s point of view, seems strange to wish away the rookie deals of your two best players, and “look forward” to paying them big money. What?? You couldn’t win when paying them nothing.

This all adds up to the kid is running everything, and he is in way over his head.

If true, any indecisiveness on their part originates from their lack of football management qualifications. Their predicament would be a professional dysfunction of their own making.
One of the worst things that happened to Jerry was immediate success. He should be given credit for the Herschel Walker trade that he parlayed into a dynasty.........but he's been unable to duplicate that in today's NFL.

He unwilling and unable to change or hire a GM that would implement change so his only reaction is to simply blow this whole thing up........it's his version of taking his football and going home.

He lacks vision, creativity and resourcefulness but his biggest impediment is pride and ego.

They are completely sure of what they are doing. They are running out MM and Dak's contract in a way that minimizes future cap hit.

What they don't know is how to respond to media questions in a way that is positive when they aren't acting in a way that maximizes talent this year.

The Packers loss coupled with the Texans swift ascension was finally the impetus to get Jerry rethinking things.

There has to be a new football man behind this new philosophy because it's totally unlike Jerry......2025 will reveal the man behind the curtain

Another possibility is-what if Stephen really is okay with letting a season or two crater to do a true rebuild. I know that Jerry has never been okay with that approach. We would not get public acknowledgment for that either, and likely would have to wait till 2026 to see if that was the plan all along.

Good stuff.

But you totally miss the Dak-Lance situation.

Marketing???? These guys haven't won anything big in almost 30 years, yet they're the most wealthiest sports franchise!! Why even have a cause to be better???

There are two directions they can go. Let Dak walk and build the team like 49ers. You pay guy like Gardner Minshew cheap to navigate this team while drafting a QB every season hoping you find one.
OR
You sign Dak and be just like the Vikings with Cousins. Good enough to compete but isn't good enough to win a championship. And that's OK as long as these idiots in here quit talking like Dak could win a SB. Just accept him for who he is and stop comparing him to premier talented QBs.

nothing else better for them to do, they're hopeful just like jerry is! I mean what else can we see to show us that he's going to win us the big one after being here how long he's been on the team!

If this is the case, then they will draft BPA next week and not try to fill the positions with the least depth

I don’t think anyone knows what to make of Lance. The Jones’ cannot actually know what to make of him unless he gets significant playing time in the regular season. If he’s getting time like that in the regular season (and Dak is still not extended at the time)-then that spells the end of Dak’s time here and gives a look to the potential future with Lance.

Even if Lance plays a couple of games and plays well-he likely gets a maximum two year contract with little in the way of guaranteed money. Too much unknown about his game and future. They might give him an actual shot at starting in 2025 though.

Has there ever been a clear direction Jerry and Stephen were taking the team? If there has been a plan I would sure like to hear what it is.
you know better than that, you're looking for an answer, and they give you the run around for about 3 minutes, damn jerry/stephen, it was a simple question lol

LMAO @ all the nonsense from Dak "detractors" continuously spewing the same bunk of how if Dak is not extended before the season starts, it will assure Dak will be playing his last season as a Dallas Cowboy.

The desperation is at an all time high.
