'Boys Rank 30th In Available Cap Space

With training camps not far away, teams around the NFL will soon witness an influx of signings. Veteran free agents will line up new deals in advance of the 2026 campaign.

As a result, this represents a good time to check in on where each team stands with respect to spending power.
The problem (especially with the Cowboys) is this doesn't paint a true picture of the salary cap situation. The Cowboys contracts are built to be extended to provide cap relief if they need more space to sign a player. So saying the Cowboys only have $5.5M now is a distortion of the truth.

And nobody else's contracts are built to offer the same relief?

This is what all teams do. Not sure how often it’s updated but OTCs restructure chart shows the cowboys as being fairly behind most of the league in terms of simple restructures. Certainly not last but still towards the bottom.

Behind as in what they've used or what's available?

What's available is still kind of meaningless because there's no player that you need to create more than like $20m for, and basically every team has that or the ability to make it.

SF up 71.7 this year, down 34.2 in 2027, down 17 in 2028.

If Dallas was in this situation the fanbase would be in an uproar.
Except--they'll renegotiate contracts--bringing this year's surplus down while having more $$'s available in the upcoming seasons.

For all the flak that Jerry catches, the 9ers do all of the same things.

This is basically the last year of the 9ers window and they haven't done much to get better.
Cowboys not having to a conference championship in 30 years makes it look worse but no one talks about how the 9ers drought of a SB is worse than ours despite them having more competent front offices and having some sb caliber teams and coach’s.

OF COURSE NOT!

Acording to his post all other franchises are run by idiots only chuckles knows how to handle the cap.

Thats also the reason our well oiled team has season tickets for the Super Bowl year in and out.

Correct. They could also decide to do Quinnen Williams' deal today and be sitting on $25.5 million or more. That would reduce his 2026 cap hit substantially.

As in what they have the potential to open up if needed.

Other than just for carry over purposes for 2027 I’d agree though that it’s a none issue at this point in the offseason.

True, but over the same time frame, this year till 2028, Dallas has 75 million more in cap space.

That's for those fans who see the SF cap situation better than the Dallas cap situation.
