Unless they view Martin as a down the road RT, the Cowboys really have nothing at the position after Tyron.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did at all, after all the Trai Turner hype.

I know there is nothing behind Free, but if Parnell couldn't even beat out a struggling Doug Free, and reports are that he hasn't done anything in this camp to impress...it's time to move on.

I wonder if this move was made in hopes that they could sneak Washington on to the practice squad. Based on what I'm reading the Cowboys will already have an issue deciding who will stay even if they go with 6. Furthermore, Washington needs to improve his overall strength to get off press and route running. So, rather than show case his speed and ability for the NFL to see, they cut him early in hopes that he would be forgotten.

No you didn't. You didn't read anything like that. You read some comments about the players involved but no one said Parnell should have Free's job. Your post seems to make a good sound bite but it doesn't reflect the conversations at all.

So, there was nothing in say, oh, I don't know, the past two weeks that suggested that Free's job should be up for grabs and that based on "film study" this was affirmed?

If you say so.

My memory gets sketchy from time to time, so I could be wrong.

Carry on.

Yeah that guy, LOL. I think he was a track guy. Great speed and hops, no WR talent.

As a layman, I could see that poor wretch could not play from Hard Knocks footage.

But yet, the sales job from the old man was that he was special. It was very clear, this was not someone he just liked because he was from New Jersey, even though that had a lot to do with it. He supposedly had rare talent.

Garrett's father was part of some very horrific Saints teams in the 1970s.

But somehow, that is a bullet point on his son's resume. Very interesting.

Your right the the thread was much worse because the OP was only pictures of Free and Parnell that was a bad attempt to justify someone's pet cat.

No it wasn't. People said let's wait and see. People here and the coaches see something in Parnell. And those here have said he may have a fatal flaw although we don't know why he hesitates at times. As far as getting beat a couple of times....so what. Not the best news but not exactly a death knell either.

People want to see more. Some want to anoint Martin before he plays a down. He's a rookie and most have some problems the first year no matter how good they are. Others want to anoint Fred and he had some issues his rookie year as well. People say most likely he'll be fine but you and others just chant the mantra he's great and laugh at others being a bit more cautious about him. The fact is there isn't but one guy on the OL who is all World. Those crying Free sucks in 2012 now laugh at people who think he could have a battle on his hands. I don't know how one could be more dishonest, hypocritical and ridiculous with that nonsense. There are other examples but I'll stop boring some and annoying others.

Now all of that is not directed at you just the first paragraph although you have ridden that train before just not that often.

It's just a bit difficult to take some of the spin, hyperbole, dishonesty, and trolling around here at times.

You make my case. No one said his job was in jeopardy at this time. But you and others ridiculed people not too long ago for defending Free's play and now you want to defend Free and ridicule people for saying his play is good but he's not a lock to start just good odds to do so.

You're either a Contrarian and/or just enjoy baiting people.

You can have the last word. I've said all I want to say and it's fruitless to have a conversation with you much of the time.

Free is a stopgap JAG. I was referring to talented players.

LOL. So why are you adamant his job is secure if he's really a 'stopgap JAG? Trying to cover your tracks from your ridicule in previous years???

He was the top rated tackle in the entire league for several weeks last year. JAGs don't do that. You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. You can have the last word as well. It's pointless to have a conversation with you much of the time as well.

I've actually mentioned a few times that Free has proven to struggle under different position coaches and what they ask him to do in their first year coaching. His second year under the same coach he did much better.

Free is similar to Kyle Kosier that beats you with technique but struggles when it's off.

Chances are Free will be gone once his contract is up so really we are talking about spilled milk here. Parnell on the other hand is not really challenging anyone for a spot. He basically on the roster as a backup that you never want to use, but you have to have backups.

In all honesty, it speaks more to how poorly the team builds the bottom half of the roster.

Neither did I. I simply pointed out that members here suggested that based on "film study" that Parnell was ready to assert himself.

The job in jeopardy thing was more, I believe, Frederick in nature.

But you and others ridiculed people not too long ago for defending Free's play and now you want to defend Free and ridicule people for saying his play is good but he's not a lock to start just good odds to do so.

I have made it very simple I am not a Doug Free fan. But yes, I have asserted that Jeremy Parnell being good enough to be a threat was laughable.

Guilty as charged.
You're either a Contrarian and/or just enjoy baiting people.

Or I just call it out as I see it. If you do not like it, I am sorry. No hard feelings, jobber.

You can have the last word. I've said all I want to say and it's fruitless to have a conversation with you much of the time.

So be it.

One, I didn't say his job is secure. Although it certainly should be since Parnell and Weems suck large.

Two, he was never the top rated tackle. Get a new ratings system if so, because Doug Free is about as mediocre of a starting RT that you'll ever find in the league. It's just that he's better than the slop the Cowboys have behind him.

In the future maybe stick with things I've actually said and not your own hallucinations.

Do you remember when Pete Hunter tried to order a cheesesteak from McDonalds?

Or his spirited camp battle with Deveren Johnson?

Or how about the owner chatting on the phone and telling an undisclosed executive within the league that the Cowboys might not have just one, but two franchise QBs in Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson?

Good times.
LOL, I do now. I also remember Peter King shoveling down popcorn as if he hadn't eaten in years.

He provides something for the DB to practice against that the other WRs don't have, elite speed.

I'm now hearing that he was injured. I know the other player that was cut was out with an injury.

You are such a cherry picker. Garrett was able to unearth hidden talent because he saw what could be, unlike you he has optimism plus a very rich and successful career as a talent evaluator. But you keep patting yourself on the back for seeing that Lowber was nothing, I'm sure Garrett will lose no sleep over your opinion. That old man has crapped out more success stories than your negative ace could even dreaming of spewing out.

Boatright is interesting but would rather sign a guy like Tavita Woodard or take a chance on some injured guys like Corey Miller, James Gayle or Chris Whaley (hold until eligible as IR stashes).

The old Circus sideshows use to cost a quarter to get into...but at least some of those were scary to a little kid.

How about a Evans Wheel...that was known to be crooked? It would have a soft spot on the back, that a heavy loser could check out and never find. Stopped where one wanted it, with a little practice.

Old rigged gambling machines...

why not Weems who's been having a terrible camp so far??

from what ive read he and parnell have both been bad so you are kinda forced to keep both and see if one can turn it around since we only have two viable options at backup tackle. also remember washington went undrafted so he may very well be there for the ps at that time. if not i wish him well but he was never going to make the roster anyways. just to raw, but as a guy on the ps he has nice size and speed so i would love to see if he can develope

I have been willing to give Parnell time since he just started to learn playing OL and Tackle when he came to us. But now it looks like he is not going to be much. Which is bad since our depth at Tackle is now pretty much non existent.
