You would hardly ever get agreement about which players are equal in talent when you are talking different positions.

Who are the top 12 guys projected by most mock drafts? Those top-12 are the players we most likely will NOT get because they won't fall to the #18 spot. But the next 13-18 guys - a total of 6 possible - could potentially be there at the #18 spot when we pick. The question now is who are the #13-18 best players in this year's draft? If I had time to look that up I would. It would be nice if someone w/ more time than me could look that up and post the bios of these players. :)

What source would you use for the rankings? There are a bunch and usually vary a bit - Kiper, Great Blue North, NFL Draft Blitz, NFL Draft Countdown, Scouts Inc., Huddle Report.

OK, let's focus on the 10 players list above. Who should Dallas want if all 10 were available? For me, it would be QB Jay Cutler if he's there (I defenitely don't see Vince Young falling to #18). But I don't think Cutler will be there at #18 either. Also I see LB as our greatest need and we could see Dallas drafting either DeMeco Ryans or Chad Greenway. CB Jimmy Williams would als be an interesting pickup if he's there at #18.

From the above list, I guess I'd take Greenway first, followed by J. Williams (if Greenway was already gone).

If Greenway and J. Williams are both gone, S. Holmes and Cutler would be tied for next on my list.

I could also see a trade down scenario with someone wanted Maroney. That would probably put us in the area for the tackles (McNeil, Justice, Scott, etc) and Bobby Carpenter.

This draft is so thin at #18 that picking just about anyone there for most positions can be perceived as a reach. That also means we'll have a hasrd time finding a parter to trade-down with. If we're thinking of trading-down as a possibilty, then I hope Cutler falls to #18. I could see teams wanting to trade-up for a QB in a thin QB class. That way we can trade-down if we decide to pass on him.

I would be ecstatic if Holmes dropped all the way to 18, but it's not going to happen. There are no top flight FA WR's available so that will drive Holmes' value up. Carpenter looks like an excellent value and there's a good chance he'll be there at 18.

Trade down if Cutler, Young, ... fall to get value maybe a 3rd or 4 rounder( extra Oline pick). Then draft an OLB ( Carpenter) in the 1st round(can contribute right away)

One of the three QBs may fall to us. The problem is that the teams below us are all pretty set at QB. SD, KC, NE, DEN, TB, CIN, NYG, CHI, CAR, JAX, DEN, IND, SEA, PIT.

Does anyone on that list REALLY want a QB? Honestly, if they do, they know they can just stand pat.

I could see KC having an interest in a QB. Green is getting older and the backups in KC are 9 and 11 year vets as well.

If Cutler or Young drops, I certainly hope they do. Going from 20 to 18 normally would cost a 4th. But if there was another suitor, we could very easily squeeze a 4 and 5 out of them.

I would hope that Dallas would take the quarterback that fell instead.
We could then trade Romo to New Orleand for whatever they are willing to give up for him.

From your list, Greenway would definitely be a BPA based on what I have read in scouting reports. I could realistically se the others being BPA as well. Some others that come to mind as potential BPA (combine dependent)are:

RB - Laurence Maroney
WR - Santonio Holmes
OLB - Chris Carpenter
TE - Vernon Davis
CB/S - Jimmy Williams
DT - Haloti Ngata

I realize some of these guys would have to slip a bit from current rankings or have good showing at the Combine but, it is possible.

Isnt he a pitcher on the cardinals jk lol

I'm kind of surprised that no one has mentioned Ty Hill. Granted, it's not an immediate need, but he's a good value at the slot and could be a good investement for the future.
