This is just a question, I am not hoping to pick this guy, I would love to take the best player available instead of drafting on needs, especially when you have a hampered RB & a WR who has hamstring issues, Tavon would add a dimension that we have never had in this offense being able to line up in the backfield or wherever you ask.. I am sure you would probably trade back if Cooper/Vaccaro/Warmack were off the board & maybe Sheldon Richardson, but I am just asking in what circumstance would you draft Austin?

Too small is a lazy excuse for me to dismiss a player. Was Russell Wilson too small to play QB for the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game?

Stick to your guns ND21!

I sure don't have him top 12, but the kid can play. Wish him well.

He's the best offensive playmaker in this draft, so I'd say top 10. I also think he'll change the way teams value slot receivers.

Russell Wilson didn't even play in the NFC Championship game. :bang2:

He won't get past the Vikings.

Percy Harvin 2.0 minus the migraines and other distractions.

He goes top 25.

I'd argue that Patterson is the better playmaker...

You are correct. NFC Divisional round game. He played well enough to make it there. But this is beside the point.

I've got him 21st on my board, only way I see us taking him would be with a trade back & gaining a extra 2nd rounder.

He's not as strong as Harvin. They can have a similar skill set but a different frame.

I'd take him at 18. I think he's a better DeSean Jackson.
While I don't want Dallas to take him there, I think the 16-20 range or so is about right for him.

..

He goes top 25.

Probably true.

But the Vikes have no WRs now to speak of, so they may want a true WR1 outside guy to keep the clear out the line a little for Peterson.
I guess they could go for mini-Harvin and then get someone else later on.

He's an exciting talent.

But it's downright scary that so many of you guys would take him at 18..over Oline or dline.
One more shiny toy does not alleviate our dire need for help on both LOS'.
We would be doomed to repeat our recent results....imo

Yup, Harvin is 5',11" 185 lbs. Austin 2" shorter and 10 lbs lighter. Younger too and will grow with an NFL weight room.

Austin's skill set and talent level is still Percy Harvin 2.0.

That's right. That's why Mike Wallace (deep threat #1) is on their radar.

Christian Ponder is being discredited rightfully so or not and they need to surround him with aerial weapons to support their 1st round investment in him.

They need 2, not just 1 WR.

So they get one of the top tier #1 WR in this FA, which reported they are looking to do. Then they can pick up Austin if he falls in the draft with their 23 or 25 pick in the 1st round to fulfill that void of Harvin being gone.

That give's Ponder the best RB in the league behind a good o-line. A viable TE in Rudolph and a viable #1 and #2 WR, where the #2 fills all those flexible routes underneath and out of the backfield Harvin once again accounted for.

Remember, Harvin was special teams as well. Tavon does everything Harvin does a bit faster, a bit but smaller.

The Vikes can then add a defensive player with their 2nd 1st rounder.

He will not go past pick 25 whether they score a #1 WR or not. He will not fall out of the 1st and may not fall past pick 20.
