everything that you just said about Gregory also applies to Schultz
In 2020 the tag for a TE was a little over 10 million. It was almost 18 million for a DE. Its simple, the Cowboys want both players, but Schutz price tag in the tag makes it much easier to digest.

Gregory has played well, but not 20 million worth.

I expect the Cowboys to try very hard to keep Randy.

10M is better than 20M for a laughing mistake. Schultz is the 4th WR, not the TE, he can't block any better than the WR's. And the QB needs his blankie when he's afraid to go after the NFL open WR's down the field.
To franchise or not is a different question
But which position to franchise or player is kind of a no brainer
The TE position is half the price and Schultz is a very solid player so he obviously would be a better option

Schultz is closer to being worth 10 than Randy is 18

lmao, does keeping either of these idiots help the team to make it to the playoffs or sb. lmao nope. what's the use keeping either. smh
Right. Get rid of everyone. Let’s go 0-17 and have no chance. Let’s only pay guys who have shown they can carry teams to the Super Bowl. Save the money for Brady, Gronk and bring Charles Haley and emmit out of retirement. Yeah that’s how it works.

You can find a starting TE in THIS draft.

Running game will NOT improve of Schultz returns.
What’s the hit rate on finding a starting TE in the draft and replacing Schultz production next year? 20 percent at best? We would need to sign someone at about 8-10m a year to have a realistic chance to replace his production. Who you signing?

I just think we can replicate Gregory’s production with a guy like Fowler or a Rookie and Golston/Basham as depth.

Replacing Schultz with a rookie is going to be hard

Production??

What production? Catching check downs or dump offs?

Would McKeon DROP those??

This isn't a PPR league as I've said 50 times.

Schultz does nothing especially well and is a liability in the run game. He is slow and has very little run after catch ability.

A second round TE in this draft would be an upgrade.

Spend the 12 million elsewhere.

Signing non special players to top money is deals is why we are in this spot in the first place.

Again, what do we mean by "production?"

A guy who doesn't drop Daks dumpoffs?

He is an atrocious run blocker. Not just a not good one....he is BAD at it.....and anyone who advocates bringing him back at ALL, forget about at close to a Kittle/Kelce salary had better not complain when we still cant run the ball next year.
