Sam Hurd cant get open... he had what 20 catches last year! If u r open Romo more times than not will find u, not sure Hird is the guy!

he looks awkward to me... He reminds me of Randal Williams!

Hurd may have only had 19 catches but he had an outstanding average of 16.5 YPC and all but two of his catches were for first downs.

On any team where you have TO and Witten and a solid #2 WR in Crayton, you aren't going to get many balls thrown your way -- Hurd certainly did well with his opportunity.

Ideally you re looking at:
T.O
Crayton
Glenn
Stanbeck
Hurd/Austin.

If Glenn can not come back we are gonna be a mediocre team at WR and will be hoping for a trade in season.

Our young Wrs are no better than nay other team's young Wrs and for the most part far worse. If the Cowboys had to line up and play a team with Sam Hurd and Miles Austin starting for them I'd be confident it was a shutout.

Exactly. What was he also supposed to put up 50 catches?

There is only one football to go around you know.

On a team with Witten and TO I could average 16.5 yards per catch. Its not like any defender is actually focusing on you.

Hurd ran some completely weak routes at times and dropped some very catchable balls. He is a depth guy but nothing more.

Then again we can have this argument for the next 3 season until he is cut and it wont mean anything.

Bottom line is our WR corps after TO is basically trash.

Randall Williams could get open, he just couldn't catch and didn't run the best routes. Miles Austin reminds me more of Randall Williams.

Crayton is a good #2.

Ya see, what you want is a stable full of potential #1s and frankly there aren't enough of those guys to go around.

.if TO didn't have the milage on him..I wouldn't be so concerned..same with TG that is basically a double-retread at this point after two knee ops at his age.

Somebody mentioned it last year that no team has ever won a SB with it's WRs both being 34-35 years old.

I just think there is a reason for that and it's the inability of those older WRs to be effective as the season wears on whether due to injury or just tiring as the season moves into the playoffs.

It's just a concern we have had even before TO arrived with Keyshawn. He never played a complete 16 game season for us either at 100% the whole time, he had knee and ankle injuries and the offense just got less and less explosive as the season wore on.

I realize there are only so many things you can fix going from one season to the next and we have done extremely well with shoring up RB and DB and TE as was needed.

But the WR issues just continue to haunt. The way it appears to me, the young WRs are going to play the majority of the TC and the vets in To and TG will basically wait for the season to start and we'll go from there..hoping somebody in the logjam behind the starters pushes for playing time.

To me, Amendola is the one who actually has the best chance to make an impact as a slot WR as he has the speed and the 'wiggle' to work in the short passing lanes just beyond scrimmage and his ability he shows on punt returns to make players miss in the open field makes him a little dangerous if he's not lining up against the other team's top CBs or safeties.

There, we might get an edge.

But other than him..don't see much in the rest and we need a vet WR if at all possible.

Hope I'm wrong but don't think so.

Out of all the young receivers, I think Miles Austin takes the biggest step this season. I don't think Hurd will be able to hold him off.
