Well it was her choice & I am sure she had great if not the best doctors.

They have a pack of kids & I suspect she decided the risk was not worth it.

She's goofy as most celebs are but she has a very giving charitable heart & I actually hear more about her charity work than anything else.

I think she's strikingly beautiful.

as stated, my wife has the same and more legitimate "reasons"...thankfully shes not into hacking herself to pieces like a crazy person.

You probably shamed your wife into accepting cancer rather than trying to prevent it,

He obviously thinks it's barbaric to do that & that's his right to believe as he will but I can tell you as a female if there was a choice given to me between my boobs or an astronomical high chance of wasting away & dying from breast CA it's bye bye boob.

It takes guts IMO to make such a harsh choice but some think it's ridiculous. It is a very personal decision.

I agree and Jolie should be celebrated for making such a hard but necessary decision, she set a good example for women in the same boat but some people would prefer that she suffer and like you waste away and potentially die from breast cancer.

I did a quick google. Angie has that faulty gene & had an 87% chance of developing breast CA. She also has a 50% chance of ovarian cancer & she stated at some point she would have surgery to have her ovaries removed.

I have 2 friends who had elective mastectomies & other than the initial pain & adjustment they are fine.

It's preferable to dying of breast CA IMO.

Those two women should be applauded for making the tough decsion of having elective mastectomies its a tough decision but its highly unselfish and prolongs their life.

Jolie has extremely high risk of breast cancer and she set a good example for women who are on the fence, or women who are shamed into accepting their cancers.

One of my friends had lost her grandmother, mom & her only sister to breast CA. It had just gotten to the point where she was going to be next & she knew it. She's great now & cosmetically you cannot tell. She's got that piece of mind from making the right choice for her.

It's very brave of any woman. Men are more affected by breast CA than people realize. Insidious disease.

Well to each his own. It's her body & as I said many women do the same as Angie. I'm sure she didn't just wake up one day & decide to do this. It's not stupid or ridiculous but believe as you will.

Very good friend had a lump and they found a small cancer under it. She elected bilateral mastectomies and one doctor got pissed at her. They found cancer in the other breast as well. I've done several bilateral oophorectomies with hysterectomies in women with markers and a family history after they finished their child bearing.

I have no history of breast CA in my family other than a male. Which blows my mind! I think people forget men can die from this as well. Scary dx.

So from now on do I refer to you as Doctor Moderator? :p
