Bradie James lays down the law! - 5/28/08

Bradie James is an idiot. Sorry but can't say I'm a big fan of him as a leader. His stupid inability to control his temper lead to a penalty in first half of 2nd game against the Giants could have cost us that game. Then he goes ahead and mouths off about Kitna disrespecting him just before the Detroit game; Newman also joined in to make some dumb comments. As a result, the Detroit team rallied around Kitna and came out fighting; something our defense certainly didn't do in that game which we again could have lost. Thank God our offense kept their cool in both games & got the job done. Frankly, I expect more from a leader then what I perceive we getting from Bradie James so far. He has a lot to learn from Zack Thomas about leadership & maturity.

The players choose the captains, not internet messageboard dweebs like you and I. If Bradie is team captain, it's because his teammates voted him to be. If you look at his past it's not hard to see that Bradie has been a natural leader everywhere he's been. His entire team was nicknamed after him in college. Nick Saban called him the finest human being he's ever coached. Bill Parcells fell in love with him as a football player and designated him the playcaller for the defense by his 3rd year because he was such a sponge for knowlege. Wade fell in love with him last year, and now has designated him the player who will wear the headset in his helmet to make the calls for the defense. Something tells me he knows a little bit about being a leader, even if he's never king of teh intrawebs.

Sorry but in my book a real defensive captain is mature enough to control his temper. You can call it (along with Burnett's) a BS call but on at least 1 of those 3 big defensive calls our player was warned to stop what he was doing but he ignored the ref & continued on -- hence the penalty. As for DCFANATIC being proud of getting that rise out of James, good for you but it's also an example of what's wrong with the media--creating controversy is the name of the game--exactly what is being tried by the media with TO & his contract.

We all criticize Crayton for talking smack but failing to produce enough to warrant it. During the week just leading up to the Detroit game, James talked some smack as did Newman, but where were they & the rest of our defense in the game; shoot, the Detroit offense shoved our butts all over the field & I sure don't remember either James or Newman being called for outstanding play. If Crayton can be criticized for talking smack but not produce enough to suit us when it counts (Giants playoff game) then it applies to James, one of our team captains, even more.

You act like Bradie comes off like a Chad Johnson or like the old Terrell Owens. He wasn't running around saying 'Look at me, look how great I am'.

Kitna called him and Newman out. You want a defensive team leader who is going to sit back and not say anything when the opposing QB disses you? I sure as heck don't. Give me the feisty guy who sticks up for himself every time out.

I want someone with some fire in the gut who is going to get back on the field and make sure his play is better and that's what Bradie James did last season.

I don't like arrogance. I love confidence. It's a fine line and Bradie walks it like a tight rope over a pit of alligators.

Maybe you know something about linebackers that Bill Parcells, Wade Phillips and their 56 combined years of coaching the 3-4 defense in the NFL don't.

Doing what James did right there is how you get to be a leader. Leaders are not affraid of what people think about the decisions they make might be. You can't lead if your worried about what people will think of you. James is right and I don't understand how anybody can not be OK with the guy standing up and calling it like it is. To me, that's a leader.

I see nothing wrong with what Bradie said. It reminds of what the Cowboys were saying when we signed Deion Sanders. He's an asset, but we can win without him. It was true then and it's true now.
