Is Patriots quarterback Tom Brady trying to shed that glowing image that has made the two-time Super Bowl MVP America's darling?
It sure seems that way given some of his comments in a recent GQ magazine interview.

''I hate that golden boy image,'' Brady tells writer David Kamp. ''I don't look at myself that way at all! For me to believe I can't do anything wrong — I think that's all bull(expletive). I'm 27 years old, I go do the same (expletive) every 27-year-old guy does, I mean, I drink, I ... ''

''Search the Internet for porn?'' Kamp inquires.

''Everything,'' Brady declares, ''I am no different.''

Brady, who turned 28 earlier this month, is expected to see his first preseason action Thursday against the Saints in a nationally televised game on FOX.

The three-time Super Bowl winner is entering his sixth season and fifth as the Patriots' starter. And he's looking to become the first quarterback to lead a team to three straight Super Bowl titles.

"Everyone knows what the goal is," Brady said about the possible three-peat. "But you're so far away from that goal, you can't begin to think about it."

I can understand where Brady is coming from. I wouldn't want the image either if it wasn't true. When you have an image like that, the smallest screw up will look even bigger than it really is.

What are the chances of a 3peat? They BETTER not get it!

Give $1.00 to the player who knocks him out for the season! LOL

I agree. I like the guy would love to have him on our team but as you said I can understand where he is coming from and sounds as if he has a grip on reality and has not gotten caught up in the hoop la

Yes, because injuries are hilarious. Pathetic.

I want to see the best players on the field at all times, if possible.

Meanwhile, he just unwittingly managed to perpetuate the image. Like it or not, this George Washingtonesque "I cannot tell a lie" routine will only enhance his squeaky clean image.

Brady will learn that there are some things you just don't admit to the public.Answering "everything" to the porn question was probably a bad idea.

He seems very grounded not blowing his own horn all the time. Guy has lead his team to 3 SB wins yet McChunky is the one constantly doing the commercials?

I disagree. What is the big deal?

people tend to take answers like that out of context.next thing you know, someone will be reporting Brady has kiddie porn on his computer.not saying that it's true....you never know.

Life is too short to worry about what others say. Brady seems like a guy who has his act together and I'm sure the comment was more tongue and cheek than claiming himself a big fan of porno. I think he is just trying to say he is just one of the guys.

there are other ways of saying you're one of the guys.ex.I like drinking beer and chasing women.remember the comment from Emmitt," a diamond surrounded by trash"...that got carried away!people always tend to hang on to the first impression of you.no matter what you do,it takes a long time to shake it.

He just answered the reporters question sorry I think your making a bigger deal out of it than there really is. I also think many made a bigger issue out of Emmitt comments. I would hate to walk around trying to be politically correct all the time watching every little thing I say, he is being himself.

He knows what he's doing...has already stated he will pursue politics after football.

Either there is some 'handler' already in the background, or he intuitively knows when a squeaky clean image crosses the saccharine line from boy-next-door to the kid everyone would love to hang a beating on.

If he's really all that concerned about the golden boy image, he can always go out and rob a bank..but even then they'd call him Robin Hood.
