Brady accounted for 5 TD’s in a profitable trip to Vegas and the coach he left behind led his team to 6 points for their 3rd straight loss.

For those who accept that the 6-time SB champ left the Pats to prove elsewhere that he was the backbone of New England’s dynasty, well, he’s doing precisely that for Tampa Bay.

Meanwhile , Belichick’s Pats are adding credence to that theory.

The Bucs have scored 222 points , topping the league, even ahead of the defending champs Chiefs. Tampa Bay is 5-2 and the 43 year old Brady is a huge reason for that mark. While Belichick and Pats sit at 2-4 which is first time since his inaugural 2000 season in New England when they finished 5-11.

The Pats 27 point loss at home to the 49ers was their largest deficit under Belichick. They had gone 286 games without a 3 game losing streak, the longest span between 3 game losing streaks in NFL history.

Though it helps that Brady went to a team that went 8-8 with a quarterback that threw 30 ints, with a proven winning coach, and a top wide receiver. At 5-2, that equates to about an 11-5 record, only a 3 game improvement over last year. Even 12-4 is only 4 games better, and Carolina isn't nearly the team they were without McCaffery. Tampa Bay picked off Rodgers 3 times, and they have a top defense this year, third in yards allowed per game and 8th in pts allowed. What would Dak's record have been with a defense like that? Probably at least 3-1.

I've always said Brady was an excellent quarterback, but no quarterback goes to 8 SBs solely because he's the quarterback. A lot goes into that...

Tampa record last year was 7-9.

Calling Arians a "proven winning coach" is a stretch. I doubt most fans would share that opinion.

You sit there and call 12-4 "only 4 games better". Setting aside the fact that Tampa Bay was 7-9 last year, 4 games is huge chunk of the season. They only play 16. Turning 25% of the season from an "L" to a "W" is a HUGE improvement. IMHO that's even more true when the wins get into the higher numbers. In other words, IMHO, it is tougher to go from 7 wins to 11 then it is to go from 2 wins to 6.

Not to mention the Patriots are looking at a 5 to 6 game downgrade....

61-41 record. Below .500 only twice, by a half game one of those. Two time coach of the year..

Didn't say he was a fantastic coach, but he is a winning coach...

4 games = 25% would be a significant improvement.

As for Brady and the Bucs, I can see them getting better as the season goes.

My point was that the team wasn't horrible, just taking away half of the interceptions would probably mean at least one more win, maybe 2. Brady could just play pretty well and more wins would come, it's not like he turned the entire franchise around by brilliant quarterbacking...

All I'm hoping, is that the Pats have an 8-8 season this year or worse, thus denying them from tying Dallas for 20 consecutive winning seasons (NFL record.)

And yeah, I am on record as saying that Brady should have retired a long time ago, but the GOAT is gonna do GOAT things.

Well.. I said all offseason we should sign him to a 2 year deal.

If they win the Superbowl then it just shows that maybe the long game isn't always the best answer.

Brady has been to 9 super bowls. It's not primarily him. Coaching and system allowed for that. Had Aaron Rodgers been the Patriots QB we would have seen similar results. Belichick's system allowed for an elite QB to stand out. He doesn't have that now. And Brady went to a talented team. So none of this surprises me. But to think Brady is 10 times better than other elite QBs is ridiculous.

BTW, if Tampa goes to the SB they will be the 27th team if I'm not mistaken that got to the SB and didn't make the playoffs the year prior. It's roughly half of the super bowls.

I guarantee you if Pats had continued rolling and Tampa continued losing that this story would have been flipped.

But lets be realistic. Brady has been to 9 super bowls. Do we believe it's because of Brady? Or a combination of Brady and system? The latter of course unless you think Brady is some kind of demigod. But I agree with your assessment because people are stupid.

I agree it was a combination of both.

But the point remains that with this situation we can make the argument that otherwise would be mute.

But, but....that QB he replaced was all world because he led the league in passing yards.

:lmao:

I digress

As for the OP. I think it was both B's that got those Super Bowls. But people were way off base saying Belichick was the main reason.
Brady is older now, but either way, he is one the elite of elite all-time.

And that’s why this story I read this morning spurred the thought for the thread.

I’ve read so much over the years that Bill would have success without Brady. He is definitely proving that thought wrong.

Yes I understand he has a decent record, but you said he is a "proven winning coach". I doubt most fans would agree with that statement.

Problem with that statement is the "coaching and system" sucked before Brady took over, and it sure ain't looking too good now that he has left.

Nothing proven. Pats lack talent and a QB. No one wins w/ that combo.
