Definitly went to a better team. Coach, though? Mcdaniels vs Mangini. Not a whole lot to choose there.

Trying to remember-anyone know when Holmgren lost the GM position in Seatle?

seems some people here still have a fascination with him. This is the second thread and there are almost 40 posts so far.

2002. I believe it was the offseason after Hasselbeck's famous "We want the ball and we're gonna score." and then he threw the interception.

He was relieved because they wanted him focusing on coaching. He had already built a playoff team.

Dec. 31, 2002 - With a four-year record of 31-33 and a defense that ranked last against the run in 2002, Holmgren agrees to remain coach while renouncing his titles as GM and executive vice president. Holmgren also fires his defensive coaching staff.

The great Mike Holmgren who was stripped of his GM duties in Seattle because he could not cut it. How long can Holmgren live off of the Bret Favre success, a guy who the Packers got to be their third string QB.

Face it, Holmgren is far from proven as a GM and that is starting to show right now. I know why they kept Mangini now. They will be lucky to win 3 games with Delhome. Mangini will be the one who gets the blame when they are drafting first next year, but Holmgren will be why.

I never said anything about Holmgren's GM skills did I? I said his ability to develop QB's, and the list is pretty extensive. Holmgren had a hand in coaching and developing Joe Montana and Steve Young in SF, was OC when Steve Bono of all people nearly won (or did win, cant remember) the leagues passing title in 1991. Developed Brett Favre. Coached Mark Brunell before he was traded, developed Matt Hasselback into a probowl calibar QB.

The guys stinks as a GM, but he knows a thing or two about QB play and obviously he thought very little of Brady Quinn.

Payton Hills was one of my Pet Cats in 2008. I thought he might make a good FA sign but he got drafted late.

Oh man I remember that day. To their credit, most CowboysZoner's didn't want Quinn and applauded the trade. There were some who wanted Quinn. Anybody willing to confess???

As silly as it was to say we shouldn't have traded down is to declare Brady a bust because he didn't blossom in Cleveland of all places.

Yeah, I think Quinn will thrive in Denver back in the sytem he ran in college.

He is certainly far from a bust at this point. He is about to prove a lot of people wrong.

I expect holmgren to try to get the dallas gb #3 (can't remember his name, the kid from A&M). Delhoome as stopgap and Steve? as development...

Why do you expect this?

Sidenote...

Weis now coaches McDaniels old QB Matt Cassel in KC as the offensive Coordinator.

And now McDaniel now coaches Weis old QB Quinn in Denver as the OC/Head Coach.

Small world.

So you think Stephen McGee is being touted as a hot commodity around the behind the scenes discussions of the NFL big wigs?

I can't believe anyone wanted him here in 07.

I wasn't here but anyone who actually wanted him should be banned from the Draft Zone or tagged with a "I was a Brady Quinn supporter" under your Username.
