Im wondering if he forces Dallas' hand. Teams are throwing money at CBs. Wonder if he decides to take his 12mil being cut, and looks for a new deal in FA where it seems every CB is making out like a fat rat.

I think it's almost a sure thing. This is not a Free situation.
CB's are in demand this year and he can just wait this one out because a June cut gives us
no cap relief until June.

Even with a pay cut, no one is offering more than the Cowboys at this juncture. The Cowboys can wait until after June 1st to push the pay cut. Carr's maximum leverage is right now at the opening of FA and before the draft. But after the draft and after June 1st, the Cowboys have the leverage on their side.

I expect a fair offer from the Cowboys to reflect Carr's under performance the past two years and a new contract with a pay cut but a lot of incentives to get a lot back.

We'll need his money before then ...

Seems reasonable...A lot depends on what his Agent hears through the grapevine. Carr is
pretty thoughtful and I'm sure will make a decision that's best for him.

I don't think it has any affect on the Carr situation.

Every free agency period you'll see a handful of corners go off the board quickly for ridiculous amounts and then everyone settles back.

Why? I thought we were $8M under the cap right now after Tyron Smith's restructuring? I doubt we are signing any big names soon. I don't think Hardy is coming here and I don't think the Cowboys will match whatever some team overpays for Murray.

Sterling Moore, Rolando McClain, Bruce Carter, and Durant are the only players I think the Cowboys will sign soon if they can agree on a cap-friendly deal.

Carr gets $12m if cut?

Nice deal for him. Add that $12m to whatever he'd make in his next gig (let's assume $5m) and it's probably a better deal for him financially then the paycut the Cowboys want him to take.

When do they need to announce if a June 1st cut. Anyone know off hand. I don't have time to look it up right now. need to g somewhere in a few minutes.
Is it before FA begins tomorrow?

I don't see why there would be any hand wringing over Brandon Carr. If he refuses a pay cut, and they let him go, it would be bad for the cap, but his production (or lack thereof) would not be impossible to replace.

Well if Carr does not take the cut and the cowboys don't keep him...chances are we find out the position. we are likely to take in the first round. Because I don't see them paying that kind of price for the CB FA's out there right now.

I think he stays. He likes it here and he's not getting a lot somewhere else. He's older and has been burned in the past.

What's to say if he refuses a pay cut they just restructure and keep him? Seems like a loss either way or am I missing something? As they say it's cheaper to keep her..

He has no leverage. The Cowboys can designate him a June 1st cut any time they want to. Well after the money has dried up.
