If the Cowboys were considering cutting Carr because of the performances of Jones, Patmon, White, the injury would make that much more difficult.

From what I've seen, Jones looks like the best CB in camp and Patmon looks that the guy that had the most success covering Beasley.

If they were going to do it, I think it would have been done before camp. At this point, it doesn't take much of an injury to keep Dallas from releasing him prior to week 1.

I thought going into camp that if Jones was really good at CB and White and/or Patmon looked like legit NFL players that they might consider cutting Carr. I thought they would offer him the choice of a pay cut or to be cut if the other players did meet/exceed expectations. The risk to that approach is obviously an injury to Carr; however, that is about the same risk as if they were definitely planning to keep him.

Gets our worst DB off the field. Dude looks stiff as ever. Worst defensive player with a long term contract we have.

I feel as though we have been lucky with injuries thus far. Even with this injury. Everyone knock on wood.

Does anyone think Byron Jones can step in and cover as well as Carr? Not being sarcastic, just curious.........

Brandon Carr to have hand surgery; should be back soon

"We don't think it's serious," coach Jason Garrett said. "Similar to the injury DeMarco Murray had last year when he played in a game four or five days later. The biggest thing with this is getting the surgery done correctly, which we're confident that's going to happen, then handling the incision and seeing what he's capable of doing."

Garrett did not want to rule Carr out for the remainder of training camp. The Cowboys open the preseason on Thursday at the San Diego Chargers.

"We do anticipate him being back sooner rather than later," Garrett said.

I honestly dont think so. Not right off the bat anyway. In the playoffs Carr more than held his own against both Megatron and Jordy Nelson. If Jones had to step up and cover both of them right now, I'm not sure he would have as much success as Carr did.

so no Carr and Oscan -phillips rivers is going to shred us again,i am just thankful its a preseason game.

What makes you think Philip Rivers is going to get significant playing time in the 1st preseason game?

Regardless of Scandrick's and Carr's injury situations I doubt either of them were going to play in next week's game anyway.

I wouldn't think so. While Carr hasn't played up to his contract. He's still an experienced veteran. Who's not as terrible as some would make him out to be. I'd rather have Carr starting. Especially early on. Then give Jones a chance to work his way in to a starting role. Plus. He may be playing safety anyway.

Let's see if the progress Patmon has shown will carry over to actual games during the pre season. Who knows. Maybe he replaces Carr down the line?

Patmon has me excited a little. Real eager to see him in extended preseason action.

It won't be a problem for him or the Cowboys. He'll be back pretty quickly.

I had a similar injury back when I was playing and never missed much of anything. They'll just put a little protection around it and it'll be fine. Really, the only issue will likely be catching the ball.

There certainly are plenty of camp bodies at CB to take the reps. White and Jones can probably use as many reps as they can get.

So it shouldn't bother Carr at all

Why?????

He has been terrible and expensive

He won't be released now BECAUSE he is hurt and would have to work out an injury settlement

I don't care for him either but they are not cutting him.
