Brandon Carr donating 110k to help water crisis in Flint, Mi

Everything I've ever read about him, he comes across as a good dude. Just that his contract is bigger than his play has been.
But good for him, he does a lot of good things in his community.

Great guy, bad football player, horrid contract.

I get it. He's a great guy off the field and that's most important from a society standpoint (which is obviously bigger than any sport in the world). He got overpaid and that's no one's fault but our FO. He's not a good football player for the DC and this is a DC fan site so you know it's going to get stomped a little.
Hat's off to him for his heart and he'll get a nice tax write off for it and some positive publicity in MI.
As a fan, I hope he's playing somewhere else next year only for the benefit of our team.

and who replaces him? it's one thing to get $ back but how to you fill a "void" created? i do think people get so tunnel vision on a player that getting rid of them becomes top priority, not finding a replacement.

Nice tax write off.....don't be fooled. He isn't losing a dime that he wasn't gonna lose anyway in one form or another.

It would be nice to see some other people take a tax write off for such a noble reason. Other people who have money, not bringing up filthy rich politicians and the one percent pop, because that's against the rules.

Draft/FA? Your correct in that it can be counter productive to get rid of a player because he's struggled without having a "replacement" in the barn. Carr's struggled not only with coverage (which may be blamed on the defensive strategy, the pass rush or coaching) however when you see him consistently dodging tackles and getting manhandled by WR's you eventually have to realize there are better CB's on the bench or in FA for our present defensive alignment.
Yes could be that the FO wants him starting because of his contract $$ but that does not obviously make him an effective CB much less a starting NFL CB.
Watch the CB's on both sides of the ball in the SB. They all tackle with conviction.

I just feel like there's 100 other threads dedicated to how much Carr sucks.......the one that's dedicated to him giving back to a community and a people of need turns into a thread about how bad he is or how overpaid he is. As if the other 100 threads about it aren't enough.........

What is the water crisis?? isnt that by the great lakes ?

To keep it from going off the rails, I'm going to refer you to the wikipage -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flint_water_crisis

The Flint water crisis is a drinking water contamination crisis in Flint, Michigan, United States that started in April 2014. After Flint changed its water source from treated Detroit Water and Sewerage Department water (which was sourced from Lake Huron as well as the Detroit River) to the Flint River, its drinking water had a series of problems that culminated with lead contamination, creating a serious public health danger. The corrosive Flint River water caused lead from aging pipes to leach into the water supply, causing extremely elevated levels of lead. In Flint, between 6,000 and 12,000 children have been exposed to drinking water with high levels of lead and they may experience a range of serious health problems.[1] The water change is also a possible cause of an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in the county that has killed 10 people and affected another 77.[2]
But look it up... pretty bad stuff going on for that community.

Great point

Cool, Carr seems like a great dude and a life mentor for some of the younger guys.

**** with the negativity in here -- there's multiple other threads you can bash him

Hes definitely not bad, but that contract turned out to be too much. Thats not what this thread was supposed to be about though. Of course i knew what would happen when i saw it.

I don't think he was a bad football player.
But no one was twisting Jerry's arm to sign him a few years back.

In 4 years, the guy has had one interception. How bad does it have to get? He gets torched on the field and doesnt make any plays. What do you call that? Average? Below average?

In relation to his contract, it is worse than bad. He is a marginal football player. Does that sound better?

Well maybe fans just dont want to talk about how great of a guy off the field he is? Maybe some of us or most of us dont want to hear it. Not when his play on the field and his contract have been such a monumental disappointment. Righly so, most fans are concerned with the play on the field #1. Im not sure what you expected.

Maybe what this forum needs is a anti rant forum. We could call it the "Glee Club" or maybe the "Positive board" Where all you can do is talk nicely about the team, players, or front office. You can muck up a main board with overly positive nonsense as much as you can muck it up with negative stuff.

Or maybe you can just go to the Rant Zone and complain about his play and contract, and leave a thread about him doing goodwill about his goodwill.
