There will be plenty of CBs that can match Carr for a lot less money. We have a few on our team.(Jones Patmon White)

Sorry, that's just not true. Carr may not be worth what we are paying him but he is heads and shoulders about everyone you mentioned.

Carr will get picked up in a snap in this pass happy, CB deprived league. Terrance Newman at age 36 still can get $2.75 m from Vikings. That's shows you how desperate teams are.

Carr will be on the team. Pay cut or no pay cut. I predict he will be come back player for the Cowboys this year and have 5-6 ints because of the pressure we are able to generate this year and playing more press man.

No doubt about it.

One item that didn't come up in the Rod Marinelli interview that has been mentioned at times this off-season is moving Brandon Carr to RCB and Orlando Scandrick to LCB.

Carr played RCB with Kansas City.

Most right handed NFL QBs prefer throwing to their right, the defenses left.

My how things have changed over the last two years.

The DL has transitioned from one of the oldest units on the team to a very youthful group.

Jeremy Mincey (31/32 in Dec.) is the only current player over the age of 30, Nick Hayden will turn 30 next February, but he isn't a lock to make the 53, LB feet be damned.

Depending on how things go in training camp/pre-season, we might even be able to flip an excess player for a 2016 draft pick.

People like to poke fun at "the process", but since Garrett has taken over, and as much as people may not want to admit it Stephen Jones is important also, they have turned an untalented and old OL and DL into a talented group with young blue chip talents who have huge upside. I'd say the process is working.

Well, it looks like the DL is improved, but they haven't played a game yet. We don't know how things are going to pan out. Maybe Hardy stays suspended for 10 games and never gets his feet under him. Maybe Gregory chooses weed over an NFL career. Maybe Lawrence doesn't improve as much as we're expecting. Lots of maybes.

$2.75? That's cheap. He's making around Gachkar and Brinkley money.

Whats not a maybe is they are young, talented and have huge upside. They may not live up to the amount of talent they have, but I can't remember our DL having this much upside since the 90's super bowl teams. Whats not debatable is there seemingly wasn't a clear plan to build a roster and I'll give the majority of the credit to Garrett, Stephen and Mcclay. I could see this being a top 10 defense this year and potentially top 5 if everything goes right.

If Carr was going to do it he would have done it by now.

We have paid him 33m and got nothing but service time from him.

He really has been that mediocre. He is easily replaced. His contract was the only thing keeping him here.

He is mediocre in a real BAD defense. Front 7 couldn't generate pressure nor stay healthy.

He isn't worth $50 million. But he's good enough if y ou can generate some pass rush up front.

Easily replaced? Then why do we need 1st round pick ? Just pick up a FA or UDFA then. CBs don't grow on trees.

It's going to be real fun to see our corners playing press coverage on 3rd and medium with a pass rush this year....
Carr is an average DB asked to play to his weakness, zone coverage, he will look better this year than in the past...
You don't just dial up 1-800-CORNERBACK...:)

that is my point, anyone can look good with pressure.

why pay 17m to Carr the next 2 years when we just drafted a CB in the 1st?

Anyone can look good under pressure? How did you come to this conclusion? They both go hand in hand. Your pass rush is useless if your corners can't stop anyone and your corners are useless if they are being asked to cover for 10 seconds at at time.

Why would the Cowboys cut Carr who's their 1st or 2nd best corner on the team? You can't scream win now and then cut him.

Even if he's 3rd best, I would only cut him if I absolutely had to have the cap space. Next year he's a June 1st cut and only has $2.7m in dead money. If he will agree to a paycut thats even better, but I'm not in favor of cutting him right now.

Right. That too. I've always been of the belief that our secondary hasn't been the problem. I think you can win in this league with Scandrick, Carr and even Claiborne as your top 3 corners. Carr has looked better when it comes to last season. But he's a professional and he's a good player. I guess I fail to see what a cutting this year will do for this team or how it benefits us. Just to say we don't have anyone making 12 million? I fail to see how it benefits us.

Pay cut or not he'll stay. Only way I see it worth cutting him is they are putting the money towards ap. Hes a good corner and we need him right now.
