If Brandon Carr ends up being signed by Dallas will he immediately takeover for Terrance Newman ? I honestly haven't watched Carr and know very little about his size, speed or just how good a CB he really is.....shed some light !!!

I like Carr, he is a very good young CB and just entering his prime.

He is better than Newman and Scandrick. That's all that needs to be said. We need 3 new CB's next year.

Get rid of Newman, Ball, and Walker.

Yes, he will easily fill in for Newman. He is a terrific CB and would be better.. BY FAR than any CB we have on our team right now. He will instantly fit in... I just hope the weak minded players around him won't bring him down too much. I don't think that can happen though because KC has plenty of weak minded players too and it has not affected him.

sure is lining up for Dallas. Would be nice to remove CB puzzle before entering draft. Then just go heavy on OL, OLB.

Walker was a stop gap solution last year...

He may very well make next year's team as a situational guy, but that's it...

Newman is staying if he restructures... and Ball will likely be here to start the season as well...

We WILL upgrade, but those three may still be a part of this team...

So you are saying that our CB's next year will be:

Jenkins
Scandrick
Newman (if he restructures)
Walker
Ball

but we will upgrade the position?? How many CB's you plan on keeping??

As what? The waterboy? Newman will be nowhere near this team in 2012.

Neither has most of this board but he's young and looks like he has respectable stats so he must be the answer

I thought Walker did OK -- but him sitting in the final game should tell us something

If we can keep Newman at a reasonable salary, we absolutely should. Yes, he looked bad at times last year but corners will certainly look that way when you can't rush the passer. If we drop his salary to 2 mill (instead of 6) we save 4 mill in cap space - doing that and keeping him is really worth it.

Great. Just don't break the bank on him. It would definitely help us heading into the draft, which would allow the team to focus on G, OLB, or DE/NT in round 1. I will still take advantage of some of the quality CB's that will still be available in rounds 3-5 even if we do get Carr.

Newman is not serviceable anymore. Even if Jerry restructures Newmans contract he would not be worth it. Keeping him would be a waste of a roster spot. Dallas needs youth at that position.

Well Ball could move to safety...
:duh:

yup a lot of people who watch Chiefs games on this board I guess?? lol, I wish I could agree with everyone and hop on board but I just don't know much about the guy..

Few CBs can play well when the front 7 is generating zero pass rush.

Don't kid yourself. Newman leaves like a 10 yard cushion between him and the WR because he no longer has speed. All Newman does is LET the guy catch the ball and then tackle or try to tackle.

Seriously.. can we not talk about Newman anymore? The guy is DONE and there is no way on earth he is on the Cowboys in 2012. He will be forgotten with the Barbers, Williams, and Choice's as soon as the Cowboys can cut him.

True but what I was seeing with Newman was a guy getting beat quickly off the line. When the WR would make a break Newman was trailing the play by a good margin making for an easy pitch and catch. Maybe his injury played a factor but I have a hard time thinking at this stage of his career things will get better.

I agree pass rush is important but I don't think all the problems with Newman in the secondary are related solely to the pass rush

Bingo! The touchdown that Cruz scored on Newman in the last Giants game, Manning held the ball for nearly 7 seconds. There is not a cb in the league that can cover for that long. Pressure is the key!

I'm not saying that Newman should stay, but unless the defense can create a consistant pass rush, the secondary is going to be in the same boat next season.
