The more Jerry speaks out about our QB situation, the more likely it seems we won't be drafting one in the 1st round come April (if we're even still in position to by then). It sounds like a mid-to-late round QB seems much more realistic. With that said, this is a kid I think Jerry and co will be high on. Put up huge numbers over his career at WKU. Some scouts say he reminds them of Tony Romo. Similar size at 6'2 215 lbs. Might be a realistic option for us in the 4th or 5th round.

Doughty has thrown for 4,600 yards & 45 TD's this season, w/ only 7 INT's on 72% completion rate. Also became 1st QB in NCAA-Div. 1 history to throw for 4,000+ yards & 40+ TD's in back-to-back seasons.

He's thrown for 12,394 yards, 108 TD's, & 32 INT's over the course of his career at a 69% clip.

I don't see the Romo in him, but as a mid-late round pick you're not going to get much better production than that.

I like people throw out comparisons to Romo, this guy is more like TJ Yates than he is Romo. No pocket awareness.

That's what makes the draft so much fun and so risky. If Tony Romo had the pocket awareness of Tony Romo at Eastern Illinois, he wouldn't have been undrafted. So hard to predict what these kids will become at the next level. Gonna be a fun draft season.

Great Blue North Draft sight compared him to little bit like Aaron Rodgers. Can make all the throws, goes thru his progression, accurate, and basically sleeps with his playbook. I would not mind taken a flyer on him the 5th or later rounds.

I think this is arguably better than reaching on a guy like Wentz in the 2nd. But my late round flier/sleeper is Kevin Hogan. Proven winner in a big conference, pro-style offense. Has time to work on mechanics.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. Actually he has great pocket awareness and he's well known for it. You can't make those type of statements based on a few videos. I've pretty much watched every game he's played. I'm pretty sure you have not.

He will be gone by the fifth. We'd better take him in the third or fourth. Mark my word.

I don't either. Looks more like Kaepernick ('14-'15)

Wow! This is so erroneous it's laughable. Doughty is a pocket QB that can get outside when he needs to. He's thrown for almost 10,000 yards in the last two yards. He VERY rarely runs, but has some athleticism. He is going to make one fan base very happy. I hope it's us.

I think he's saying looks like him in the very literal sense of the word.

I think Hogan is a 2nd/3rd rounder

I think Dougherty could be a good selection. I don't think he lasts until the 5th round.

If interested the Cowboys should grab him with their pick in the 4th round.

Someone will reach on him in the mid rounds because of what u said. I would love him with our 6th but won't happen.

Depending on how he performs in workouts, he could go in the third. That's what I've been hearing and reading, but it all depends on which team needs what when it's their time to make a pick. I want Jerry to pick him so badly.

Nice write up, it would be good to groom a future QB.

Yeah, as I was typing that post it occurred to me... "Well QB's that show something can go earlier than their projections."

Yeah. Not really seeing Romo when I watch those videos.

Though, I'm not sure how many guys are like Romo. Romo has an extremely quick release and is basically Houdini in the pocket. Plus, when he came out of college, he was most definitely a gunslinger. This guy doesn't strike me as having much of any of that. That's not to say he won't be a good NFL QB, but it won't be as a QB in the Romo mold.
