I don't know much about this guy but is he just the classic example of a player where you can just throw the combine stats out the window? Mayock is in love with this guy and in this video he does seem like a pretty decent prospect, plus I would assume he should be around still at pick #28. I have read here where several people don't like him is it just based solely on his bad 40 or have people seen him play has he just not been that impressive?

I'm basically forced to watch VTech games. He's very natural...a case where he seemingly plays faster than he times in the 40. If I were a betting man, I'd wager that he'll be pretty successful in the NFL.

Yeah, I don't know if you watched the link but Mayock was drooling over this guy in his breakdowns of his game tape.

why do you put so much stock into what mayock has to say? he couldn't make it in the nfl himself.

What does that have to do with his analytical abilities?

...not that I'm a huge Mayock fan, but at least he makes up his own mind, rather than regurgitating the latest hyped up guy over and over.

I don't know how important it is that Mayock has a man crush on the guy but he really did wax poetic over this guy when talking about him. Plus, I thought it was interesting because most people just seem to be glossing him over (even though in Kipers current mock he has us taking him at 28) as a guy we might take in the first round.

Yes, we all saw what happens when Mayock comes up with his own ideas after watching a couple of Arkansas videos.;)

Point taken. I'm not trying to validate his accuracy, just his originality. ;)

Mayock has been pimping Flowers for some time. Right before Flowers ran the 40, he was telling everyone how great he was, this and that. He ran his 40 and the first thing out of Mayocks mouth is about how he plays faster than he timed.

At one point, he had him as the #1 CB in the draft. I don't know if he's backed down from that at all.

I don't think you throw everything out anymore than you say a combine defines someone.

At one point this off-season, Mayock had Phillip Merling as his top DE in the draft. I kid you not. So take what he says with a giant grain of salt. Actually, if he's pimping a guy 2 months out from the draft, that's not a good sign for the prospect at all.

NFL teams don't like to take slow corners in the first round.

NFL teams don't like to take small corners in the first round.

NFL teams will not draft a slow small corner in the first round, because they will get abused in man coverage by the big boys.

That's probably why most people don't project him going in the first round. :D

And its not like he can't prove them wrong and be the exception, but when it comes to first round picks teams don't take chances on guys that would have to be the exception.

Flowers will be a damn good CB in the NFL

He plays much faster then his combine speed, hits very hard, and is an in your face, bring it every down type player

Virginia Tech is going to miss him this fall, but he is ready for the big show of the NFL
