What would Boldin cost if Edwards is a 2nd, 5th, and a decent WR?

I'd think he should cost similarly.

The Cards definitely want a first for Boldin and won't leave it at just that and rightfully so. Something like a 1st, 5th and a solid player. But I doubt they wantto break that offense up in Arizona. Boldin, although unhappy about the contract, is signed up for what should still be the best part of his career.

Boldin: 28 yrs old, in 6 seasons has had more than 1,000 yards 4 times, more than 10 TD's once, played in 16 games in a season only once. Imagine if he could play a full season.

Edwards: 26 yrs old, in 4 seasons has had more than 1,000 yards 1 time, more than 10 TD's once but it was 2007 and 16 TD's, played 16 games in a season every season except his rookie year.

No doubt Boldin has proven more. But for the price and the fact Edwards has been their only WR worth a look means he's used to being a #1 WR and dealing with top corners and double teams. I know Winslow was there and attracts attention but he doesn't get a teams best corner put on him.

If you pair Braylon up with another good WR like Boldin has I have no worries about him being super productive. The guy knows how to get in that end zone. 16 TD's while playing for the Browns is no accident. 26 yrs old. I would do this and it would probably be better value than the RW trade this year.

I would love to have Braylon Edwards, he is an elite Top 5 WR in this league and he is young with a knack for the end zone. The Giants screwed up not handing over Steve Smith but good for us.

I don't know if Jerry has inquired but I seriously wish he would. I think you're at least very close about Braylon Edwards if not dead on right.

word here in NY is since the Edwards deal fell through that the g-men are just gonna look to the draft.

No thanks. He's very talented but no thanks. WR is the most overrated position in football outside of kickers.

I don't like killing our draft either and I get the feeling you hold the picks in high regard also. But how many drafts could you net RW and Braylon Edwards with your first and 2nd rounder which are on the bottom 33% of the rounds. Yes you have to throw in a 3rd and 5th and Patrick Crayon but would that not be a real good draft? These are young players.

I think it's extremely hard to get a good WR out of the draft and it usually takes 3 years to develop a WR if you possibly can. In that regard I don't think it is an overrated position at all, but 1 that is very hard to find a talented, reliable suitor.

I know we could use another corner, safety, NT and OLB but we could definitely use another very competitive WR.

What position would you rather us either draft or use our 2nd round draft pick on and what player comes to mind? I think anyone would be extremely hard pressed to find that level of talent and age in the draft or FA for that level of compensation. Also filling a need.

Awesome. That means that player may be solid in 3 years. I know this year has some good WR's in the draft but other than Crabtree, who has injury concerns, not even Maclin ranks to Edwards who is only 26. Then again, the Giants get another Steve Smith, which teams don't get very often, I'll be eating crow.

Cleveland apparently considered it a done deal as long as NY would add Steve Smith to the picks, yes. The Giants suggested the other WR's mentioned instead and Cleveland broke off talks, not the Giants.

We can't offer them Steve Smith, either.

I don't know if we have any receiver on the roster, other than Roy Williams, that the Browns would consider in such a deal.

Crayton doesn't have value as a No. 2 and the others are unproven.

Edwards has had only ONE year where he did not drop the ball like it had nails in it. Saying he is better then Roy is pathetic and laughable. Maybe in MADDEN but nowhere else.

i would do in a heart beat. only a 2nd 5th and crayton? hell yeah

anybody saying roy and braylon are the same player obviously doesnt know what their talking about.

i actually think braylon is a better player but besides that their games are not that a like.

braylon is also more of a downfield threat and is faster than roy

We need more of a finesse guy.

We already have our Edwards type.

Plus I don't think we can spend big money on a receiver considering we're paying TO a lot of money to play for Buffalo.

Well said.

Having indentical receivers usually isn't the best idea. Although Boldin and Fitz work out pretty well in Arizona.

I'm not a big fan of his.

If Dallas were to do this (I can't imagine they will), we'd have 2 of the highest paid WRs, with neither of them an elite player.

well to me, we have a chance to get johnny know or mike thomas in the draft,

now sure they are smaller wrs, but they are much faster too, we need deep speed on this team, because we have the big physical wrs in
austin 6-3 215 4.43 in 40
roy williams 6-3 215 4.45 in 40
stanback 6-3 216 4.5 in 40 or faster
travis wilson 6-2 212 4.45 in 40

we need deeep speed

According to Pro Football Weekly on March 23, 2009 the Giants offered Cleveland a 2nd and 5th round pick for Braylon Edwards. Cleveland then requested the Giants also add Steve Smith in the trade and it was pretty much a done deal. The G-Men insisted on adding Hixon or Mario Manningham. Cleveland ended discussions

So in knowing this and Braylon Edwards apparent "stone hands" and the season he had in 2007 would you give up our 2nd, 5th and Patrick Crayton for Braylon or would you want him at all? Below are a couple of links of Braylon making plays. I like his knack for the end zone.

Braylon would become a restricted free agent in 2010 and I think a change of scenery would be good for him in a contract season. That whole Cleveland team didn't seem to reach their supposed potential last year and their star players have wanted out for a reason.

nope...not interested in the least, especially for that cost

So we would be giving up a first, 2nd,3rd,5th and 6th for two recievers??

I have to think we can allocate those picks a little better than that.

I'm not interested in that deal for Edwards at all.

We have bigger needs than to spend another 2nd, 5th and a WR for him.

Edwards has only lived up to his high draft position once in four years. I think he's overrated but if you think TO didn't have enough drops, throw it to Edwards.

I'd rather draft someone in the second round than give up picks for him.

He is more of a down field threat. Better route runner too. He can go up and get the ball very well but RW is better at that and has surer hands. Both big WR's as we know though. Not the same WR's and I also thin Braylon is a better WR than RW, but RW is a good WR.
