On reevaluation the narrator liked Peppers a lot more. Can someone give me the cliff notes until I get a chance to actually watch the video a bit later? TIA
I really think he would too, defense needs an injection for youth and talent. That guy probably put it about as close to what I've been trying to say about Peppers, as anyone has.
I like him a lot and think he would be a big plus to the Dallas defense. He'd bring the alpha dog mentality over there like Zeke brought to offense.
We could do a lot worse at 28... but I doubt he makes it there.
Yeah, I agree. He might not bring the attitude quite as much as Zeke did... but not many would. Zeke is a Boss. He knows it. His team mates know it. The opposing team knows it. The entire team gets behind that and is like, "My running back can beat up your running back!!"I really think he would too, defense needs an injection for youth and talent.
It's all on Greg Jackson. He's going to know more than anyone. Major advantage for us. If we take him, I'll be comfortable with the selection.
That said, I voted No. I think it's bad roster management to be paying $12 to 15 mil to your two starting Safeties in 4 years. If you're not willing to do that (i.e., sign them to the 2nd contract) then you wasted a RD1 pick on either Peppers or Byron Jones (assuming Jones doesn't move to CB, which I don't think happens).
SS is not a hard position to fill. Not worth a 1st. I'd rather play 3CBs and a FS, which is where I think the game is going. Church played around 64% of the defensive snaps; Wilcox 53%. Peppers would play more but I don't think we win one more game because we have a better SS.
His other skills cause some hesitation, but I've said in other threads that the only way I think he'd get heavy longterm use as a returner is if he didn't work out at S. That's obviously not the goal for a guy you pick in RD1.
Some really good points, LB. Definitely something to stop and ponder. It's all on Greg Jackson. He's going to know more than anyone. Major advantage for us. If we take him, I'll be comfortable with the selection.

And that's one thing a lot of people that tout any player's return ability fail to understand: if they become invaluable at their position on D or O, you aren't going to risk them on ST much. It's all on Greg Jackson. Peppers isn't nuts from a Rod standpoint. He can cover and tackle and be a blitzer from the slot. Rod loves those things. The only thing that concerns me is turnovers. For a guy that athletic, he was basically allergic to the ball, how many forced fumbles did he have again?
It's just weird.
I will say that having him and Jaylon (please) as the young center pieces to build around in the middle of your defense would be a great start. Adding Lee on top of that and it's hard not to be optimistic. And i'm not even Peppers biggest fan.
How much attention have they given Jabrill?
Edit: That dude did a good job on the video. Michigan's defense is going to be insane this year.

Heath has alot of range for a SS and would move into that dime role Wilcox was in. A combo of Heath and Peppers in Dime could be a very very good oneI will disagree. I can see what you mean, but I don't see Peppers having a hard position role. He's going to a guy in the middle of the field that has a ton of speed and can tackle, you really can't have too many of those guys in todays game.
If Jaylon is healthy and Peppers is behind him, the middle of our defense just got astronomically more athletic. You can start him at SS, bring im in as an extra LB in certain nickel formations. You get the benefit of a guy that can run, tackle, and cover.
He'd play a ton, imo.
