I think Meyer may take the job, especially if he wins another championship this year. The temptation of taking the most publicized college team back to their glory days is too much for him I think.

Meyer to ND would be awesome, IMO, as I think he could easily turn that program around and have them competing again from the get go.

He's got 2, possibly 3 rings, there is not much more to accomplish in his collegiate career other than turning a prestigious program around (and ND returning to form would be just that) or just going to the NFL.

I think ND can recruit Nationally. They can go anywhere an sign guys because of their BCS agreement and their relationship with NBC. The recruits they are getting are not producing because of the coaching IMO.

Partially so, imo.
They for sure can recruit from all over, but it seems the elite southern skill guys (except qb) more often than not opt out. But I guess all you need is 1-2 stud rbs and wrs...and they can get that nationally.

They do have slightly higher academic standards for athletes than most absolute elite programs (so exclude Stanford, Duke, etc). They also do not have an indoor practice facility--which helps recruiting as well.

Unless Meyer is Catholic and has ties there somehow, I see him going pro before going to ND.
I do agree that if he went there they would be challenging very soon.

I don't think ND will have a problem finding a good HC, like them or not they are still a very high profile team

Why would any big time coach want to go there, EVER? If you don't win championships you're going to be viewed as a failure, and you can't recruit with the big dogs so you have to consistently out coach the opponents.

Just really seems like ND is still fixed on who they were, and not who they are.

recruiting wasn't fatty's problem, he still pulled in big name players, he just failed at coaching them just like Willingham, Scrub Davie, Gerry Faust etc

The only coach to do decently at ND is Lou Holtz and he bent the rules.

I doubt Meyer would go there, he turned them down when they hired fatty and he has it made in Florida

and once again dumbcanadian shows his complete lack of knowledge about college football. Lou so called breaking the rules? The Kim Dunbar BS. A twit pays $25 to become a so called booster and she is supposedly connected to the University. So the same NCAA that refuses to do anything to USC about the bush scandal says that Notre Dame did not show full instituitional control. What a joke.

Burm...a serious question or two, no sarcasm or our playful banter.

Who do you think will be the next coach (maybe you have heard more than the general ESPN drivel)?

Who do you WANT to be the next coach?
