*Disclaimer* This is not a Troll post…..Saints fan here that comes in peace with a realistic breakdown of the Saints and Cowboys.
Offense:
QB edge: Saints, Brees is a legit MVP candidate and the best deep passer in the league. Romo is a product of a system and the talent around him and will probably come crashing down to earth this weekend.
WR edge: Saints, Coltston is just a rookie and was the steal of the decade, Horn is a consistent veteran and Henderson is a player on the rise. TO and Glenn are average and past their prime but still dangerous.
TE edge: Cowboys, Witten is a top 5 TE period, we still need help at the position
RB edge: Saints, Bush and Deuce…..possibly the best 1-2 punch in the league. Jones and Barber are pretty good too though.
Oline edge: Saints, a rock solid group that has been the key to our big play offense. Dallas oline still suspect from what I’ve seen as Romo's mobility has been able to mask the problem.
Fullback edge: Saints….does Dallas even have one???
Now for the defense…….
DE edge: Saints, Grant and Smith are consistent with rushing the QB. Losing Greg Ellis has hurt the Cowboys pass rush.
DT edge: Saints, Hollis Thomas slightly better than Ferguson despite the recent problems.
LB edge: Saints, we are loaded with young talent (thanks for fujita and shanle who lead the team in tackles) and simoneau is a rock solid veteran. Ware and Carpenter have been busts for Dallas.
S edge: Cowboys, Roy Williams is overrated but still better than what we have.
CB edge: Cowboys, Newman is a decent player but Henry isn’t that good in coverage, still better than our secondary.
Special Teams:
Edge: Saints, you have the better punter, but we have a great kicker and return game
Coaching:
Edge: Saints, Sean Payton proving that Parcells success was a result Paytons offensive genius.
Prediction for this weeks game:
Saints 38 Cowboys 17
Drew Brees is playing on a whole different level right now and no defense in the league is capable of stopping our offense. Romo’s metoric rise had to end sooner or later and Cowboy fans will learn why the Saints are an entirely different animal than the Bucs or Cards. The only advantage Dallas will have in this game is exploiting or subpar secondary if Romo has time to throw the ball. Expect a lot of pressure from our LB as they know your team very well, also expect Payton to expose Romo and force him into big mistakes.
Go Saints!
OMG are you serious!?!?!
The talent level in Dallas is so far superior that its not really funny.
There was a reason that Payton tried to get half of our players and took our castoffs (guys that couldn't crack the lineup on our team), Shanle, Fujita, Copper are starters in NO and some of your best players, in Dallas they couldn't even get playing time this year.
I could spot you a very
slight edge in Brees, passrush, coaching, and RB, but that's it. The rest of the positions are simply landslide Dallas advantage.
WR: you're joking right? a rookie and Joe Horn are better than TO and Terry Glenn. Your WRs as a tandem or corps wouldn't rank in the top 8 while ours is probably top 3. And TO and TG are still just about as good as ever. Crayton is pretty darn solid too.
DT: Ferguson vs whomever is backing up Hollis :laugh1:
You can't be serious about Ware being a bust. You've obviously never watched him play. He's not as dynamic as Merriman, but he's one of the most complete players on defense in the entire league.
LB: You can't be serious. Shanle and Fujita over Bradie James, Ayodele, Ware, and Singleton? Shanle was going to get cut and Fujita would be backing up Ayodele and probably not see much time. Castoffs in Dallas, starters in New Orleans....hmmm
OL: not sure there is much difference.
You can't possibly think that we will only score 17 points. The lowest point total we've put up since Romo has taken over was 19 and that was because TO dropped an easy TD and Vjerk got a FG blocked. The Saint's defense was sketchy to begin with and now they will be missing several of their best players. I find it hard to believe that we will score less than 30 points against one of the worst defenses we've faced (other than Tampa) since Romo took over. The Saints may put up some points against us and it will probably be a tough game for us but I assure you Sean Payton would trade the Saint's roster for ours in a heartbeat. We are flat out more talented, and it isn't that close. I give much respect to Payton for their success because I really don't think the Saints are very talented in general.
The fact still remains that when we played in preseason, we made the Saints look like a high school team. Now the Saints have gotten better for sure, but really not THAT much has changed. I can see a close win for Dallas or a landslide win for Dallas. The only way the Saints win is if we turn the ball over 3 or more times.
