Check this out... it isn't a list of Joe Blows. It's the highest endorsement from the league's most qualified experts. As for playoffs ( sure, his critics will mention the record), notice we never see QB rankings or grading for postseason success. For example, some fans would take Josh Allen over Troy Aikman today or what about your Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson?

This is the highest Prescott has ever ranked on the list—he was last on it at 11th in 2024, and his high-water mark and only top-10 finish was ninth in ’20. It’s a tribute to how well he played last year, and how he helped the Cowboys get the most out of uber-talented receiver George Pickens, even without CeeDee Lamb, who missed three games. One quarterbacks coach called him the consummate field general, and an AFC exec added that he expects a big year with a cast around him now that makes Dallas “scary every time they get off the bus.”

Sounds about right. As I typically say in these ranking threads so many of these guys are so close you could probably put Dak anywhere from #5 to #12 and I wouldnt argue it too much.

I'm not making this argument because Herbert is ranked ahead of Dak. I'm trying to understand the criteria being used to rank him so highly.

Herbert has now been in the NFL for six seasons and has made three playoff starts. His postseason record is 0-3, and across those three games he has completed 58 of 106 passes (just 54.7%) for 674 yards, 2 TDs and 4 INTs.

That's a pretty small sample, so I'm not suggesting three games define his career. Look, Herbert clearly has talent, and I'm not arguing otherwise. His regular-season production is impressive. But there's a difference between projecting what a quarterback will accomplish and ranking him based on what he has actually accomplished.

I hear the same argument every year about Herbert being an elite/top-tier QB, and I'm genuinely curious what I'm missing. Six years into his career, he still hasn't won a playoff game.

If we're ranking quarterbacks based on talent and potential, that's one conversation. If we're ranking them based on actual performance and accomplishments, I don't understand how Herbert consistently gets ranked as highly as he does.

Exactly. People make up their minds about a player and dig in. Facts, objectiveness, fairness, logic, it all gets tossed aside. QB A is good and QB 2 sucks. Nothing changes their minds.

Dak could somehow end his career winning multiple Super Bowls and people will still bring out the 2017 clip of him throwing balls into targets with David Carr on NFL Network and use it as proof he can't play.

I say similar. Mahomes does not belong with Allen or Lamar he should be in his own class. No one wants to admit but a lot of these guys are the same caliber.

Because every year is the year of Herbert, and the year of the Chargers. Don't forget, this is after the '26 season, and many assume having RB1 back will help, and having a healthy OL back will help (yet, his C is already gone)....Just like Dart, many see him leaping with the entire team, and having a health WR room....

The difference must lie somewhere. The owner, the GM, or both if that’s the set up.

I agree. But truthfully I think a top qb wins the ring this year. Someone in that top 10 is winning this year.
