would that apply to Von Miller and his early career suspensions due to substance abuse also?

Von Miller? that is your comparison? If this guy ends up being Von Miller for us, then I will recant my comments regarding Irvin....but, don't hold your breath that this guy turns into him (or anyone else turns into him on this roster)

Please note: 2017: Chicago/ Minnesota trade; Indiana/ Oklahoma City;

Morey isn't doing anything new under the sun. Trades for big names. Remember the Lakers super team (Shaq, Kobie, Malone, Payton)? Remember perennial off season champion Washington Commanders? The Philly Eagles super team?

The only thing bigger than the hype was the resounding thud when the games were played.

Keep on keeping on. Somebody's got to believe the hype.

LOL, you are so clueless and you don't even realize it.

Nothing we don't know already here. Lose Irving for four games, add Taco for sixteen, and it's basically the same problem we had last season beyond that. And, yes, it proved to be a fatal playoff flaw.
But how much of that flaw was the inability of the refs to call blatant holds on GB's OL? Yes the pass rush needs to improve but Dallas was middle of the pack in sacks and pressures in 2016, to hear fans and media talk you'd think they never put heat on the QB.

They're better than they were, not as good as they need to be afaic. You're right that blatant holds at home were missed in that playoff game. On top of the bizarre unsportsmanlike conduct call on Butler that killed a key drive.

That is a great question.

What's it like living in your world? Irving was an integral part of the D-line last year, not some "rotational player". The line HAS been a mess, with so many pass rushers with so many issues. I just read an article on the team site where they ask, "Which rookie will be most productive player?". Helman states, "Taco Charlton is competing against a crowded defensive line". Huh? Did we sign Mack or Miller & no one told me? What double digit sack artist is currently on the roster? Come on! If Charlton can't break THIS D-line, he can't break ANY D-line.

4. Cowboys pass-rush takes yet another hit.
Attrition pounded the Dallas secondary in March, with three of the five guys who started in the defensive backfield in the divisional playoffs now gone. But through the team’s spring work, internally, the pass rush has grown into a much bigger concern, and the suspension of David Irving, announced Wednesday by the league, certainly won’t help.

While it became clear early in May that rookies Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis would be able to help fill in the blanks left by the free-agent exodus, what’s left up front remains muddy and the Cowboys have themselves to blame for that, because that’s where they’ve tried to cut corners. Irving and DeMarcus Lawrence both served suspensions as collegians, and Randy Gregory plummeted on draft day because of his drug issues and doubts about his mental state. And now all three have been suspended as pros. Irving was actually off the Cowboys’ draft board in 2015 after he was tossed from Iowa State’s team in 2014, and Lawrence is the only one of the three set to be available on opening day. And that’s without even mentioning the failed Greg Hardy experiment.

Having had Charles Haley and DeMarcus Ware, no one knows the value of an edge rusher better than Jerry Jones, and he also knows how hard it is to find one without drafting him high. So Jones, and the team, tried to get “creative” in finding one. The result? Dallas now needs first-round pick Taco Charlton to grow up in a hurry, because it sure looks like a very talented roster might have a fatal flaw.

He makes a great point. We are to blame for it. Once again. Another selfish player suspended. We are the single worse judge of character of any team in the league. Sorry but anyone who gets suspended is selfish. They do not put winning and the team first. Im all for someone having problems and getting them help from a human point of view, but enough already because it hurts us every year. I truly think we are waaaay to soft on guys. It's a country club here. We need guys committed to winning. It's so so hard to win in this league but it's impossible to go to battle with guys who year after year put themselves first

Really? Your blaming the refs why we don't have a great pass rush? Come on.

Part of getting calls is earning respect around the league. Good pass rushes draw penalities.since Ware and before that Haley this team has not had a pass rush. We try to take shortcuts and take changes on the Gregory of the world. We know how that turned out.

Exactly what? You replied to your own post. I took light of it, you know, a joke.

I thought you caught light of it with your "lol" and "ha" in the same post in replying to mine.

I was wrong. It went over your head. That's why I then relied to "forget it," trying, in vain, to avoid having to spell it out for you.

But, alas...
